Living a fulfilling life is possible only if you make your daily minimalist practices a passion
Live your passion - We never had that option in our life, because simply there were no options to even explore our passion. We had very limited choices and we never complained even - just grow and do the best with whatever options available. Slowly responsibilities increased, and the thought of exploring our own passion was put behind the scene, as building our next generation was having a higher priority. There are very few privileged people, who still could do both (living their own passion and supporting their kids to live their passion as well) - so I don't blame anyone or anything for that. In this process, we have come to an age where living a healthy life has become challenging and is the most important thing now than anything else, to be able to support our kids to live their passion. And a healthy life is possible only by living a fulfilling life - by setting some daily minimalist practices that is achievable. So let me explain some daily minimalist practices of minimalism and it's benefits that helps me to live towards a fulfilling life. This post is in response to the KISS Prompt of this week - a compelling prompt that would be applicable to everyone.
I have made it a rule to dedicate at least a hour daily for self, for some form of exercise - unless there are very high priorities coming up. "रोज़ाना एक घंटे खुद के लिए" A hour daily for self - I have spread this to many friends and now many are following this, even though we are not living nearby. So this is my new passion and highest priority of the day - I feel incomplete, if I don't do it - and I even feel the impact. My appetite remains low on those days when I take off unwillingly (due to other priorities). From a weight of 108 kg to below 80 kg is a long journey, but after reaching here, that feeling of a light body brings in the memories of our young times, inspiring to do more. There is one down side of changing my wardrobes consistently ( I now have almost four sizes) , but that's the fun part of it.
Know this flower ? Parijata or Coral jasmine or Night-flowering Jasmine or the tree of sadness gives only goodness to others - while the flower gives divine fragrance, it's leaves are used for medicinal purposes. It's called the "tree of sadness" or "tree of sorrow" because the plant blooms only in the night and flowers fade quickly, falling off during early morning (because of a curse as per our mythology), giving their best.
Feel your surroundings and adjust to any place to spend this one hour blissfully. Often we think, we need a better place like gym or a big filed or a stadium, to do physical exercise and that becomes an hindrance. Slowly that hindrance takes over killing our willingness, so don't allow that to happen, instead adjust to any place. You might have seen me at many places - whenever I go to my native, I enjoy football, cricket, running, in those grounds. In our society, I even ran on the very small park located on the front, making it a mark as well. At that time, I was having back pain, and doctor advised to run on soil, instead of hard surface. But slowly, I realized, the back pain is not because of that, it's because of consistent long sitting hours for job and I took courage to deal with it, do some specific exercises for that, which has made me feel better, even though its still there. But I run on hard surface now - fear makes everything worse, and so did it on me as well, we have to win over that.
Another most important factor for living a fulfilling life is food and Sattvic diet or simple diet promotes peaceful mental state as per our Hindu mythology. And early morning is the best time to get some fresh vegetables - I wish, I could grow my own vegetables, which is only on the plan for now. So mostly a vegan and simple diet has been our choice of late.
These guys live a healthier life than us, they don't have very high aspirations - living a minimalist life is what makes their life blissful. And they have a bigger heart than people with lots of money - the fulfilling life they live probably gives them that edge.
And to make the entire day fulfilling, and get up recharged, we need a nice sleep - controlling my thoughts and divine thoughts has made it better, but its still not best yet. Hopefully, it is not far - anxieties from several responsibilities are hard to relieve, but not impossible I believe.
So these are my minimalist practices of minimalism that makes my day fulfilling. It sounds easy, but in reality, it's very difficult, to make it happen consistently for a long period and make it a habit. Now that it has become a habit, I don't want to give up them at all.
What about You ? Does your passion change over time ?
