A Day in my Life: a minimalist's visual story..

in #hive-19484818 hours ago

While I’m not a big fan of routines—in fact, despite being a minimalist, I absolutely dislike them—the idea of waking up every day to repeat the exact same tasks as the day before is something I just can’t do. However, one thing that remains consistent about my typical day is that it’s always simple and organized.

Starting with Order
I woke up to a messy bed, as expected. Instead of ignoring it, I made my bed right away. Growing up, my dad used to tell my siblings and I, "A neatly arranged bed helps you feel organized and ready for the day". It’s a small task, but it creates a sense of accomplishment and focus first thing in the morning. Next, I tackled the sink, which had some dirty dishes from the night before. I washed them, dried them, and left the sink clean and shiny. Keeping the sink clean makes my kitchen feel more organized and pleasant, which makes cooking and other tasks easier.

Cleaning and Planning
After breakfast, I swept my room. Cleaning helps me feel refreshed, and a clean floor makes the whole room look better. This daily habit ensures my space remains clutter-free and welcoming. After cleaning my room, it was time to clean my head-space. Writing in my journal helps me organize my thoughts. It’s a simple way to clear my mind and focus on what’s important. Today, I wrote about my priorities for content creation journey, reminding myself to focus on experiences over things, especially in regards to the value I wish to give out.

A Nutritious Breakfast
For breakfast, I had white rice and stew with carrots and green peas. I like adding vegetables to my meals because they make the food healthier and taste better. I also drank a glass of milk diluted with water after my meal, a habit I’ve cultivated to stay hydrated and relaxed throughout the day. Drinking concentrated milk makes me sleepy and that's why I always like to dilute it with water when I'm taking it in the morning. Breakfast is my way of fueling up for the tasks ahead, and keeping it balanced ensures I feel good physically and mentally.

Keeping my Room and Face Clutter-free
Later, I organized my wigs, placing each one in a transparent nylon bag. This keeps them dust-free, prevents tangling, and saves space. It’s a small habit that makes a big difference in keeping my room tidy. Afterward, I did my makeup to get ready for the hang-out I had with my friend. There's just something about getting your makeup done as a woman, the noises fade and the world becomes quiet; it's just you, the mirror and your makeup products. How I love being a woman! A quick routine like this helps me feel confident without taking too much time or using too many products, as I believe, beauty is about enhancing, not overloading.

Stepping Out
During my outing, I took pictures of things that caught my attention. One of the pictures was of a tree with lavender-colored leaves. It stood out to me because of its calm beauty; as if I needed more reminders that nature, truly is strikingly beautiful!

By coincidence, I happened to be wearing the same color as the stunning tree I saw. It almost felt like the universe was whispering, “Girl, you’re just as breathtaking as I am.” At the eatery, my friend showered me with compliments and insisted on taking pictures of me. He joked, “We need to capture this moment so your grandkids can see that their grandma was just as iconic back then as she is now.” That had me laughing, and I couldn’t help but feel flattered—it was such a heartwarming thing to say.

Relaxing at Home
When I got home, I decided to relax and watch a movie. I picked a Kdrama I’d already seen more than twice—mainly because I knew I’d end up dozing off and a part of me needed that sleep. It’s not that the storyline isn’t engaging; it absolutely is, but I remember every scene so well that my brain didn’t have to work hard to keep up. And just as planned, it worked like a charm. Within minutes, I felt myself drifting off, shut down my laptop, and slept a little bit.

What really Matters
Each activity in my day reflects my typical lifestyle. From cleaning and organizing to journaling, taking a nap and enjoying simple meals, these habits help me focus on what matters and keep my life stress-free. it’s about making thoughtful choices. And even for the not-so-thoughtful ones, at the end of the day, I don't have to do loud activities before feeling like I've had a productive day. It's all in the simple little moments and details.

Cute plates!

I relate to your beginning of the day a lot as it's similar to mine - I can't stand a messy kitchen and I always make my bed. For years, I thought it was just this nonsense rule to always make your bed, but I see now it refocuses the way your entire day is arranged.

There's just something about getting your makeup done as a woman, the noises fade and the world becomes quiet; it's just you, the mirror and your makeup products. How I love being a woman!

Same, girl. Same :D

It really does! It's a whole perspective change. Thank you for sharing your though. :))

For the bed.
I don't used to care about it. I would wake up and go about my tasks untill maybe when a different spirit tells me to dress it.

Now that I'm into it, the first thing I do whenever I'm out of bed is to dress it. Whenever it appears rough, it zigzags my brain😂

sounds like a peaceful day in the life!
