Clearing stuff out from my old childhood bedroom II

More from the treasure Trove

I called to my parents house last week and they weren't in. My kids were with me and asked if they could see my old room, and so we popped upstairs in my parents house and had a look, we uncovered some interesting bits and pieces.

Old photos, sticker books, mementos and old equipment, including old cameras and a wireless as they were called then, we call them radios. I got the old equipment handed down as I thought they looked really cool back in the day.

They still look cool I think. I'll do a post just on them another time, but here's a few photos to whet the appetite.

This post is about the match and racing programs I found and today it's about these Galway Races programs from 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000. It's hard to believe that was 24 to 27 years ago. Time flies when you're having fun and never has that felt truer than right now, so I guess I'm having fun!

Over the next few weeks, I'll show you some of these finds.

Last week I reminisced on this old sticker book and it's contents.

Everything from wrestling, movies, sports and more was covered in that book from my youth.

This week we look back at the world famous Galway Races, which is a race festival to rival Cheltenham in terms of craic and fun. The calibre of horses is far inferior, but the craic around Galway's medieval streets is unrivalled.

Here are the programs.

Here is a look inside at some of biggest races which were always on Wednesday and Thursday.

Nice! I used to have an old Instamatic too! Those were great starter cameras for young kids. At least until the disposable ones came along!

Ya I used disposables. These were belong to my older brothers I think, but I kept a hold of them, as I thought they looked cool!

Amazing the things we were into when we were young. Love the programmes from the Galway Races. Great event, shame I never went and I love the nags!

Pity you never made it over, it's always serious craic up there.

Manually curated by ewkaw from the @qurator Team. Keep up the good work!

Thanks a a mil @qurator and @ewkaw

Haven't heard of any of these things and I never was a big fan of horse racing.
Regardless one can feel the nostalgia from your writing 😂

I see Arsenal stickers too...
Back when they weren't major bottlers😂😏

Ah ya man, I collected lots of soccer stickers as a child! I loved filling those sticker books!

Ah I don't think Arsenal are bottlers. I think they are on a good road now and our time will soon come.

Gunners and races, hubs would love that.

I see you're a bit of a collector, you'd do well here

Cool, I'll have to check that community out. Thanks for the heads up my friend.

What a treasure trove of goodies! Those old Instamatic cameras bring back memories! You have quite a sticker collection there, great that you still have it.

Thanks man, ya I loved my stickers!
