There are minus one degree Celsius as I am typing this post, and with a little bit of wind that makes its presence felt really well, we are supposed to have the coldest night of the winter today... I don't see any reason to freak out, but some are.
People have become such pussies lately. If it's too hot, why do we have so much heat, like we didn't have summers thus far? If it's a bit cold, it's like the end of the world is coming. You can never make people genuinely happy, ever...
But I remember the good old days of my childhood so well. It sometimes feels like it was yesterday when we had lots of snow starting in December and until late February. One year, when an aunt of mine "decided to die" right on New Year's Eve, we had so much snow it almost felt scary to think of having to drive anywhere.
But since the aunt's daughter had no one to help her with her deceased mother, my father had to drive to the countryside and throw a helping hand until other relatives gathered there. From what he told me on that day, he had the most stressful drive ever.
Back in the day, here in Romania, we did not have any damn winter tires, or anything like that... I don't even know if he had his wheels equipped with chains when he left the house, but the traffic wasn't so heavy either.
As kids, it was phenomenal to have so much snow during winter. Nowadays, most of the young ones are getting heavy rain for Christmas. At least that's what we are getting in here every fucking year...
It's so annoying. As a matter of fact, the pics from this post are taken a few days ago from one of my daily walks when, although the sun was shining a bit, there were a few raindrops here and there falling from the sky. Not even Sweden has proper snow anymore.
I have a friend who has lived there for over two decades, and winters are no longer the same. What happened? I don't know, but I don't bite the man-made climate change bait. I tend to incline towards climate engineering more than us screwing the climate so much in just one decade.
Come on...
The last time we had some decent snow here was about five years ago. I doubt we will see any for what's left of this year, but hope dies last, isn't it... Have a great day and see you next time.
Thanks for your attention,
Adrian
