First News from the Countryside House - Moving in and Installation

in #hive-194913last year

Hi dear friends, I don't think I've missed so many days here in the last year, and I have to say that although we've had a lot of fun, I've really missed interacting with you !

So that's it for now, the short story in pictures of this first arrival and settling into our new house in the countryside. For those of you who've just arrived, I recommend that you look back over the last few months to follow the steps that led us to this point, from the search to the purchase.

After an intense move in Paris last Thursday, we took the lorry to the Perche region where the house is located. In the second image, you can see the lorry driven by my partner's father as it drives off, leaving us at home, left to our own devices for the first time !

IMG_6719.JPG

Here, we're at the top of the hill, at the very top of the field overlooking the house, and this is the only place where there are two meagre bars of 3G and network... Not enough at all to even hope to write an article with any substance !

At the same time, the landscape is bound to inspire us to daydream and contemplate, and that's exactly what we're doing in the shade of the trees in the nearby forest.

IMG_6808.JPG

Here's the house itself, with its porch and garage in the second image. As you can see, we were blessed with superb weather, and apart from a few drops of rain on Sunday, it was sunny every day !

IMG_6780.JPG

This is the little hut at the back of the house and the well in between. When we arrived, we didn't have time to do much other than tidy up and move boxes from one room to another...

IMG_6935.JPG

IMG_6958.JPG

In the first image, you can see our best friend of the weekend, a Kärcher site hoover, which we've selected for its efficiency in dealing with both solids and liquids !

IMG_7003.JPG

IMG_6783.JPG

IMG_6787.JPG

Here are a few pictures of the area around the small hamlet where the house is located... The Perche countryside, which for us resembles the English countryside, is quite humid and slightly undulating... That's precisely why we chose this region !

IMG_6730.JPG

IMG_6732.JPG

IMG_6778.JPG

Here are a few images of the interior, in order: the tiny bathroom, which suits us perfectly and which we're going to keep for the time being. Then there's our sleeping area with the military cots we brought with us. And finally, another room that will probably be my office for working and writing.

IMG_6799.JPG

IMG_7008.JPG

IMG_7009.JPG

We'll finish with the housekeeping session, where you can briefly see my girlfriend, and on the rest of the images, one of our temporary business set-ups in one of the downstairs rooms and a small view of the kitchen.

Don't worry, you'll have more news soon about our actions and upcoming operations, but for now, we'll leave it at that as I write to you from the train where the connection is still not perfect... but it's better than nothing at all !

I hope you've enjoyed this article and thank you for taking the time to read and visit. I also hope you're well :)

Have a splendid Sunday and see you soon,

<3

<3

Thank you @plantpoweronhive 😉

That's beyond epic! And what a contrast, leaving Paris and all its craze to move to that beautiful and quiet (seems like it) place. Wishing you all the success.

My god, just by arriving Sunday afternoon at the Paris train station, in 30 secondes, I've seen more people than in three complete days 😱 !

Many thanks dear @mrprofessor, a lot of work ahead, but this will keep us fit haha :)

Take good care ✌️

The best kind of work, must say. It's the absolute best to sit at the end of the day and realize what's been done

Exactly ! Btw, one of the first thing I built there was a bench for this purpose 😅 !

Awesome it truly looks perfect and idyllic 😊😎
Have fun with settling in and doing all that is needed.
Starlink would sure help with the internet.
Looking forward to all your adventures there.

Have a lovely Sunday and a great new week @anttn 😘
!ALIVE

Yes, what a dream location, we're back in Paris but we can't wait to get back!

I indeed thought I did think about Starlink, but I think the fibre is missing the point... We'll organise a connection next time :)

Thank you very much dear @littlebee4 😇

I can imagine… now you are in the house. You want to be there too.
Starlink has no cables… just faces the sky and attached the router to a power socket.
But if you can get fibre there… it will be cheaper. Hope it works out and you are connected soon in the house.

You are welcome 👋🏻 happy Monday 😘

I just checked Starlink yesterday and somehow, it seems cheaper now... 199 for the equipment and 40 by month after...

Will look a bit the budget hehe 😅

Oh, that’s a lot cheaper.
Almost the same as fast fibre.

I pay more then that…
Of course 😉🤓

@anttn! You Are Alive so I just staked 0.1 $ALIVE to your account on behalf of @littlebee4. (2/10)

The tip has been paid for by the We Are Alive Tribe through the earnings on @alive.chat, feel free to swing by our daily chat any time you want, plus you can win Hive Power and Alive Power delegations and Ecency Points in our chat every day.

Oh lá lá ! how exciting !!
congratulations. now the real work starts.. ; )
enjoy every minute. best regards.

Yeees ! Finally :)

And yep, so much works ahead, but this was the goal of the adventure !

Many many thanks dear @bigorna1 😇 How have you been doing lately ?

PS : Did you receive some news for the grass chopper ^^ ?

Hi,
I have been good. summer is now fully upon us and there is a lot of watering, as it normally is at that time of year.
my son is now here on vacations, so I have much appreciated help and company.
it is getting fairly warm, but nothing out of the ordinary.
no news about the grass chopper, no. sadly.
wishing you a great productive week.

I'm glad everything's going well ! Have a lovely summer with you and your son.

As for the herb cutter, I've put two local second-hand dealers on the hunt ;-)

Take care !

I published another ad in another Telegram group.

can not yet find one but finding many other jewels:
https://www.olx.pt/d/anuncio/esmagador-de-uvas-manual-IDCgOPU.html
(this one is for grapes ❤️)

Oh, that's super kind ! If I find one in my region, I will let you know !

Thank you dear @bigorna1 😉

It´s a pleasure. I would love to find one for you !
might even do the transport myself 😂

That would just be awesome haha !

Let's see if you have some positive answers :D

Looking at your new house seems like we are just neighbors but we're in different regions. hehe!

Oh yeah ? In which part of France are you settled ?

Brittany/Bretagne :D

Nice 👍

We're going there this summer 😉 Just near Lannion hehe

Cool, we always go to Lannion :D

Ah, that's nice ✌️
Maybe we'll meet at the market hehe 😅

Oh, I hope so. I've never been to the market in Lannion yet. But we always go to the beach in the late afternoon and go to the Chinese restaurant in Lannion for dinner. haha

Hahaa, and so I will try this restaurant 😅 do you recommand it ?

How pretty the house is and how beautiful the surrounding is! You will definitely spend a good time there. I looks forward to read your posts ... I know you mentioned there is not a good Internet connection ;) Enjoy!

Indeed, good times ahead as you said @akipponn :)

We're already back in Paris, but we're impatient to go back as soon as possible 😉

Thank you a lot ✌️ Have a lovely day and take care !

Oh my gosh your house is GORGEOUS! What a beautiful setting as well. You are absolutely so fortunate to have found such a slice of idyllic wilderness to be living in.

Take your time getting settled and enjoy the process of everything finding its place. It's a pity about the internet, but in another way, it is also quite nice that you're a bit removed from all the hussle and bustle.

Looking forward to seeing the updates. Have a wonderful end to the weekend.

Yes, we're so happy that all those months and hours of research have paid off in a way :)

We're going to take it easy, neither too fast nor too slow, but I think the most intense work will be done in a few years' time... But as far as the internet is concerned, it's certainly given us unparalleled peace of mind !

Thank you dear @emma-h2, I wish you a lovely day ahead !

Compared to my move, I think you really have your work cut out, seems like quite a lot to do. We used to have a Karcher as well, it's very efficient but very noisy! Our neighbours used to say they knew when we were vacuuming our flat ( which wasn't very often so they must think we're so lazy), but the noise won't be an issue for you. Looks like your neighbour is quite far away!!

The surroundings are amazing, enjoy your new home!

Yes, that's really what we wanted, not necessarily a house that's already been completely redone, but to add our own touch to the interior. But the "downside" is that it's going to take us some time, that's for sure !

For sure, I think that here the noises in general won't be a problem hehe :)

Thank you for wishes dear @livinguktaiwan 😇

This has given me an insight to what Paris looks like
It is a very beautiful plave indeed
It looks very lovely

Hey @rafzat, this is clearly not what Paris looks like 😉

Both the house and the landscape look amazing! A breath of fresh air!
Just that little house/ shed in your garden would work for me haha!

I am so happy for you two!

Enjoy!

Haha @vincentnijman ! For me too it will be enough, but you know, women "generally" need more comfort ^^ !

Many many thanks dear ! We're already impatient to go back 😇

For me too it will be enough, but you know, women "generally" need more comfort ^^ !

Are we still allowed to say these things ;^)

Just kidding, mostly: yes.

I am having a great time in the countryside myself, these days. Check tonight's post ( and the upcoming ones ) for more info.

Au revoir!

Are we still allowed to say these things ;^)

Oh definitely not haha !

But for me, space is for storing my crates of books and if needed, I can live in a truck or tiny room... I've already done that :)

That's nice. I will just go now, I'm kind of late for everything haha, the things I want to do and the one I'm suppose to ^^

Have a great new week dear Vincent

Exciting times - what a great location - looks so peaceful. All the best for your new house !!!!

Many thanks dear @hoosie !

Yeah, this first days there confirmed all of our decisions :)

The place is gorgeous, the house looks great and I'm sure you have lots of ideas for the layout which will take some time though. I say this from my limited experience of only two houses I've lived in and where I've furnished and changed all the time, over many years. I don't think it's a rush, taking it slowly and patiently, many things fall into place on their own. Now I don't know what your wishes and expectations are, maybe you are anxious to get everything ready as soon as possible...
I wish you the most pleasant life where you have chosen to live now! The surroundings are particularly beautiful and I am sure they will be a source of inspiration for your future writings.

Thank you dear @bluemoon ! What a first experience we had there :)

At the moment, we're mainly coming for weekends and holidays, so it fits in quite well with your advice about not rushing into things, which is what a lot of people have told us too. So we're thinking of making a few improvements, painting the walls, breaking down a few walls, but not much else for the moment... In a few years, when we come to live there for good - I think it'll happen little by little - then we'll do some major work to make it a bit more comfortable :)

I hope you're doing well 🤞

I get it now. I thought you intended to move to the country immediately... I'm sure you'll make a nice comfortable home. Now you're in a settling-in phase, I think. I'm thinking of myself if I were in your position. I think I would have a hard time adjusting to the change from such a hectic city ( and what a city!) to the quiet of the country. Of course, the quiet, the nature, the fresh air means so much more but I think that we, who have lived a life in the city, have the city embedded in us and I think it's hard to get it out.
Forgive me, there are some thoughts I can't control. But I am sure you are doing what is best for you, it is a remarkable achievement that few people can achieve.
We await good news from you!

Completely agree with you on that. I've always lived in the city too and of course the city lives in me... I have the same feeling (as does my partner), but a few years ago, the attraction for nature started to be stronger and it's also to spare both of us that we're going to go there with a gentle transition, rather than all at once !

This transition will take few years, maybe one only but two or three seems more reasonable :)

Thank you a lot for sharing your thoughts and feelings about this, again we've a quite close perception of it 😉

I'm so glad. Congratulations and good luck!

Thank again dear ;-)

Yeah! I See you finallly made it to your new home! 🥰
That house is beautifully rustic and I 'm looking forward to see you styling it your way. That little hut is a nice one as well. Looks very durable.
And I can't wait to see you taking the first steps in the garden too... 😁

As far as network connection: There are some type of "amplifiers" for mobile networks out there. Often used by people who spend lots of their time on the road or outdoors in very remote locations. Maybe that's a somewhat cheaper alternative in the long run compared to a sattelite-based system.

Thanks for the update and the pictures!
Take care both of you and all the best for you!

Yeah, finally !

It was great to spend the first few days here and discover everything at the same time ;) Can't wait to go back haha !

I will dig a bit for those kind of amplifiers, this might be a good solution indeed.

Thank you dear @aaskablackwolf, have a good new week start 😊✌️

You hit gold on this one!! What a beauty! I love it and the fact that you have good bones to work with and the rest is up to your imagination! Everything is workable, so there is no rush. That is so very fortunate.

My Shore House was like this, and still needs work, but, it is a labor of love. Weekends and some holidays are spent getting acquainted, letting the feeling wash over me, I didn't want to just jump in and make it better. I needed to allow it to become part of me and let it do the hard work. The hard work of figuring out what direction to go in. Because you have a place to live, there is no rush on the project, especially if you want to do it once. Because some things cannot be replaced, slow to go is where it is at.

The cottage/shed is awesome! I would want to have it~ My outside shed at the shore is made into a hen house. :) Even custom-built the nesting boxes. :) But, I like it. The piece of property, the neighborhood, and even your vacuum. LOL, I don't have the word that I want, but, just know, it is perfect! I know you and your girlfriend will be very happy there, the internet won't matter. Get Starlink when you move out there and all will be well with your world.

I look forward to keeping up and seeing what is going on with East Home, West Home...

I'm excited for you!

Thank you dear ! I completely share your philosophy about to rushing to fast to get it prepared. Time is luxury in this case - and most of the time - and I also really loved your expression « labour of love »...it is exactly and precisely the thing !

You made me curious to see a bit your shore cottage, but just imagining it through your words is already nice :)

Yeah, internet is just a detail of course, I missed Hive of course, but I felt way more connected than in the city surrounded by networks and other « connections » !

Thank you again for your positive energy that I completely share on this matter, have a lovely day 😘
