There's still Life Blooming on my Windowsill

in #hive-194913last year

Between the countryside's house, all the preparations for it and the life in Paris, I haven't really had time to look after our tiny urban garden, and yet it seems to be bearing fruit !

This morning, I had a sudden urge to get back to work on my camera. It's been quite a while since I've had a chance to use it, and I have to say I've missed it. For information, this is a Nikon D5500 equipped with a Sigma 17-70mm lens.

So it's done today, even though my session this morning was short, but I still had time to practice a bit and immortalise the few remaining calendulas and a new arrival, a wood mallow, which I don't know how it got there. But it's a nice surprise, of course :)

Here are a few more images of the flowers in all their glory and with my compost on the other windowsill.

Here, a close-up of the petals which form a sort of helix around the stamens, where the pollen is found.

There are still quite a few buds open and flowers in full bloom...

... and a few more to come ! And I'm not forgetting that I've already harvested quite a few seeds for next season :) As for the medicinal properties of calendula and mallow, I'll leave you to find out more.

I hope you enjoyed this short article and thank you for your time !

See you soon,

That’s nice 😊 still some flowers on the window sill.
Soon it all changes 😎
Have a wonderful Thursday ☀️🌺

Great to see you are another Nikon user!!!

yellow flowers always look so bright in the garden, even the odd dandelion that pops up is welcome

I don't have it since a long time, I previously had one about ten years ago and it's nice to start again to take more picture and to practice more everyday :)

Definitely, what I really like about calendula as well is that those plants have a lot of medicinals effects on top of their evident beauty !

Thank you for visiting @grindle, I wish you a very pleasant day !

you too

Those yellow flowers are called sunflowers in my country. Don't know if that's what you call it too. They're such pretty flowers to behold especially when the sun is out. Their brightness alone is worth beholding. I love, love your images.🥰

All right, sunflowers seems to be the generic name for many plants and flowers, but for me sunflower = Helianthus annuus :)

Here it's more Calendula officinalis but were the comparaison works is that this flowers too follow the sun during the day !

Thank you for visiting and enjoying here dear @teknon 😇

Thanks a bunch for the elaboration. I really appreciate.

You're welcome @teknon 😅 !

Thank you dear @steemflow 😇

These are really lovely flowers anttn dear. This post serves as a reminder to me as I woke today with an urge to plant flowers.

Check for some with medicinal virtues in your area, that way you'll enjoy the beauty and the good effects at the same time 😉

Have a good day dear @wongi

The color yellow is always interesting to enjoy and of course yellow is synonymous with passion & hope. Beautiful flower photo @anttn :)

This is for sure, yellow as the golden sun ! With green and blue, those are my favorites... But it's hard to choose among colors as it's difficult to do the same for flowers ;D

Many thanks @alexa-macro 😇

I believe all colors are beautiful, and the variety of colors makes it perfect because everyone has their own choice. But, I agree with you that yellow and green are favorite colors, even for many people. :)

Beautiful flowers 😍

I am always surprised when I see something popping up that wasn't planted. The birds did it, for sure! :) I have little messages left all over my yard, but, then I deserve it. I have bird feeders, which I left out. I try to only feed them in the dead of winter, letting them forage for their own in the nicer seasons.

You really have a lot of buds blooming and it is good to see you fooling around with your camera again. We get so busy (buy yours is such a fun busy right now!) that we forget to stop and smell the flowers some days.

I love window boxes too, and I have geraniums in mine. Predictable, but, they have amazing color and growth this year!

Yes, in that case it was me who sowed them a while ago, but they spontaneously took off again!

As far as the birds are concerned, I've just discovered that in the countryside, they were in the process of planting the hawthorn hedge that I wanted to create ! They just landed on the existing fence after eating the berries :)

Nature is an ever-renewing wonder !

I'll have to convince my girlfriend about geranium, I love them and she's not (for the moment 😅) a great fan of them... For the moment !

Have an happy Market Friday day @dswigle 😘

Thank you! I see you just posted also! Yes!! Geraniums are beautiful, but, better than that, they last all season and keep on blooming! Nobody can beat that!

This is right, and an important thing to take into account ! But anyway, I will just add some on 'my' side haha 😉

I wonder the kind of scents these flowers will have
They look so beautiful
You have blessed our eyes

Strangely, they don't smell that much, but they already are a pleasure for the eyes :)

Thank you @rafzat 😇
