The weather has been pretty unexciting recently, plus work has been busy, so there hasn't been much opportunity to do any photography over the last couple of weeks. I was out on Saturday morning, and there was some nice misty atmosphere, but a completely clear sky. It was very pleasant, but there wasn't enough mist to soften the sun in the absence of cloud. It was lovely to be out though, and sometimes it's just fun to watch the morning unfold, without having to concentrate on making the most of amazing conditions.
So with that, I have broken into my very small archive of photos. My Nikon D750 and I have only been together for 3.5 years, so my back catalogue is small. :)
Here are some images from a morning last February, on a photo wander before work.
Morning Sunrays
The cloud bank rolled onto the horizon at just the right moment, as the sky had been quite plain and cloudless until this point. It created some lovely rays of light...
Cloud can transform a sunrise into something quite spectacular, or completely snuff a sunrise out. This day was one of the good days.
Reflections
The clouds were beautiful as they caught the muted rays of sunlight. I took a shot that dedicated a big slice of the composition to the sky.
Blue Dawn
I think this is my favourite image from the morning. I love the blue hues, and that the sun is hidden behind the ever emerging cloud bank. I had to go home to work, and it was gutting because the cloud was preventing the mist from burning off, and the light was still fantastic as I left the park...
Usually, I'm pretty regimented about using my tripod, but I seem to have done a lot of hand held shooting here. Off course, when the light levels are low, I always use my tripod. However, there is something very liberating about hand held shooting, and the freedom it brings, if there is enough light in the scene.
Almost dare not say it out loud, but the weather forecast looks quite good for tomorrow, so I may go for a pre-work potter.....
