Hi Everyone
This is a collection of shots taken at the weekend while I was out wandering around the town of Dysart here in Fife on the east coast of Scotland.
These first shots show St Serfs tower. This building was first constructed in the 13th centaury and was used as a church up until the 1800s when it fell into disrepair and was abandoned.
During the first and second world wars it was used as a look out tower.
Im not sure the origins of this art installation but I love the contrast of the colours of the wooden pillars with the sky and sea behind them. It makes for an interesting composition.
This old boat has seen better days but again it works for a unique photographic composition here.
Dysart harbour on a cold grey overcast day.
Many of the old buildings in the harbour have this beautifully weathered wood on them.
The historic harbourmasters house is now home to a museum and café.
I love these sheds , they are beautifully decorated with many nautical treasures of the sea :).
Every time I get up close to them I notice a new unique photo opportunity
Notice the anchor made out of keys...
I am unsure what this is , its kind of creepy but again offers a unique reflection composition.
This old house is so aesthetically pleasing to me.
Again we have some beautifully weathered blue wooden boards.
The key stone above the door seems to suggest it was built in the 1700s.I feel like if I peer through the letter box or keyhole I will see the ghosts of long dead sailors playing cards , drinking rum and singing sea shanties.
The stonework is made up of rocks and bricks collected from the nearby beach. This building literally has the sea running through its bones.
Behind the old blue doored house we find part of St Serfs Churchyard.
Alot of these buildings were built between the 17th and 19th centauries.
In the centre of town we find the Old Tolbooth and Town House originally built in 1576.
While walking through town I noticed this derelict building with its windows boarded up. The basket ball net , the boarded windows and the old tiled house make for another unique composition.
Looking from the cliffs of Dysart over to the neighbouring town of West Wemyss.
Well that's all folks. I hope you enjoyed this little look at a historic little coastal town.
