As I made my way to visit an old school friend in the next county, I decided to stop by a wooded area nearby, called Boughton Brake. The wood has a lot of footpaths and tracks that wind their way through the trees.
The sun was shining, so after all the wet weather we've had, I couldn't resist taking a little walk through the wood. One of the best things about the place is the numerous benches that are scattered around. These benches provide the ideal spot to relax, or maybe have a picnic during the summer.
It looked as the area had also received a lot of rain recently as lots of fungi had sprouted up. There were the usual white puff balls and clusters of brown fungi growing on fallen logs.
Friends of Boughton Brake (FUBB) who look after the wood, have created the ‘Whitewater Trail’ which is a surfaced path suitable for wheelchair users. This trail has made the woodland accessible for everyone. They have also put up nest boxes for birds, planted trees, and made small habitats, including ponds, for the wildlife.
It looked as though it was quite a popular place for dog walkers, too.
My impromptu walk through the wooded area was an added bonus, especially later on as we had yet more rain.
