After a few days of sunshine, the snow surprised everyone by making its appearance in typical British style. I woke up to a lovely blanket of snow covering the ground, turning the world into a winter wonderland overnight.
I decided to take a walk around the ponds near my flat to see how the snow had changed the landscape.
The snow always has a way of giving everything a different vibe, making even the most familiar places seem new and different somehow.
Parts of the ponds were frozen over. There's something peaceful and calming about walking in the snow apart from the crunching underfoot.
Surprisingly, nobody was playing tennis down at the tennis courts. They are a hardy bunch but too much snow on the court.
I then headed down to the village lido. It was nice to see little pockets of autumn colours against the white of the snow.
Just as I was walking under the tree, enjoying the scenery, the weight of the snow finally gave way and a pile of snow landed on me. I shook off the snow from my coat and brushed it off my hat. Talk about bad timing!
It was a little overcast but it was still quite mild.
Thankfully, the roads were relatively clear. Even though I love the snow, I don't like being confinded to barracks. I'm guessing by the morning most of it will have thawed.
The snow may have been unexpected, but it turned out to be a nice surprise.
