A Walk Down Memory Lane

in #hive-1949132 years ago

Today I scrolled through my folders to see what was the time when we started sewing seeds last year. I know it was January as my dad is always restless and wants to get ahead of everyone else. Sometimes he's lucky and the seedlings he's growing get a good start, but when the weather is playing pranks on us, his efforts are in vain.

While browsing my folders I came across a lot of photos I took last year, with different occasion and never posted them. Like this grape photo, that I took in September 2019. These are the times when I could appreciate these grapes, enjoy the flavor and let the vitamins be absorbed my my body. As it's January and (supposed to be) winter, grapes are only available at the supermarket and those have a totally different taste.

This photo was taken at the same time at a different location and I remember how angry I was for not getting there in time. The wonderful ivy leaves were on the ground already, so this is all I could capture, instead a wonderful red leave carpet. Last year, I mean in 2022 I made sure to be there in time so I don't miss the show and what do you think happened? Someone cut the ivy out, there was not one stem left. 😳 Was it a slap on my face? It was. A big one. I don't know who's idea was it to get rid of it, but was a very bad one.

A few years ago I was lucky to go to the cemetery after a light storm. The wind was blowing hard and being the end of October, leaves were already dry and ready to fell. The wind did the job perfectly, in a couple of hours the whole city was full of leaves. Obviously streets are cleaned fast as that's a priority, but the cemetery being on a hill, cleaning was slow. I can't explain why, but a cemetery covered by lovely colorful leaves foe me means time has stopped. I took a bunch of photos and was hoping to catch similar scenes on camera next year, but this was all I could do. We don't always get what we want.

Then in January 2020 this happened. It's a phenomenon that should not happen as these windows have isolation, but one of mine is faulty, should be changed, so when it's very cold, this happens. To be honest, I only see this once in 5 years, which tells you how warm winters are nowadays.

I haven't seen such ice flowers (as we used to call these), since I was a kid and even then only at my grandparents' house as those windows were the old school ones.

So when I woke up and saw the nice print on the window, I spent 20 minutes taking a bunch of photos to have as memories as I knew I may not see such thing again. Especially if I decide to replace the window.

Then there was this scene, which I love so much and it is expected to be seen every year in April or May, depending on the weather. I don't know how to describe it, but for me it is like fresh air, especially paired with the blue sky.

There's a long way to go as we've barely started the year, we haven't even had proper winter, but it's nice to remember the good moments. At least you know what is coming and when and you can prepare your camera.

So today I showed you a bunch of different themes, as I usually do. Let's see which one is your favorite today, if you have any. Don't be shy, throw one or two in the comment section.

Que buenas fotos, quedé encantada con lo de la ventana, nunca había visto algo así.

Thank you! It's hard to see these ice flowers, specially if it's not cold enough.

Sí, bueno la verdad mientras siga aquí en mi país no veré algo así, aquí solo tenemos un clima tropical

The ice flower looks really beautiful, and I also can't wait for May to see the beauty of the white tree😁

There are a few months still, till we get there, but it's coming :)

I can't wait to see it

Aww these all are so cute. But my favorite is the last one. I miss Spring so much :/ It's too cold here zzz

Spring is not far, so hang in there as it's coming. Those flower blossoms are priceless.

in every picture there must be a story, these pictures all look very good. I'm sure @erikah is an expert in taking good photos. And that wine is my favorite.

You're right, every photo has a story. The grapes are nice indeed. I'm going to post more in October.

I will wait for the next post. about my favorite wine. because I see the grapes is very much different from the grapes in my area.

Those grapes caught my attention, I love grapes so much and it's very expensive in my country because they have to import it from foreign country, I wish I will see grape tree one day.

We have both, domestic and foreign but obviously the imported ones are expensive.

I have never seen domestics grapes in my country Nigeria that's why grapes are always expensive and sometimes you won't get fresh ones because they might have stored it for so long

All the photos are beautiful, but I gotta point out the ice flowers, as I'm from a place with tropical weather I have never seen the winter, and of course less these "Ice flowers", I didn't know this could happen, in the beginning I didnt' even know what was it until you described it an I'm just impressed!

I loved all the photos Ms.Erikah. What stood out for is was your glass window with ice flowers. I am so fascinated with snow, with ice because we only have two seasons in my country so seeing thing associated with winter I love.
The cemeteries here in my country usually don't have lots of leaves but instead lots of tall Shrubberies growing wildly specially the one's that are not maintained and looks like an empty vacant lot that has no owner.

Thank you for your post enjoyed reading it. You've given me ideas on how I can share my numerous photos in my gallery that goes way back through time.😄😄

Have an awesome day!

Two seasons don't include snow I suppose :)

The cemetery culture is different around the world. Here, if you don't pay the taxes, the lot is sold to someone else and as the city cemeteries are full, prices are quite high and there's no such thing as abandoned lot.

You're welcome. It's good to mix photos that have nothing common :)

Yes we only have the wet and dry season in the Philippines.
In the private cemeteries you will buy the lot for the burial and it will be yours but for a really big sum specially when it's at need. Some offer payment terms until you have paid it in full. Then you'll just to maintain the lot like if it's on the garden area like ours we have someone tending the grass.
For the public cemeteries I think there is a certain date that you can use the vaults. Then if they are not maintained after ten years or more they will get all the bones and place them on like a community burial site.

I will try posting different photos that have different themes in them.
Thank you Ms. Erikah learned something new again from you.
Grateful to be one of your follower.
