As I promised in my previous post, this time I will be sharing my photo session with Keny, which was planned with more detail. A little flashback—after completing the first photo session with Keny, I decided to plan a more organized session, from the concept, outfit, makeup, location, to the supporting props. The preparation for this session took about two weeks because I had to purchase the outfit and props needed for the shoot. Additionally, we had to coordinate with the Makeup Artist’s availability.
The concept of this photo session revolves around the theme of Chinese women, and the location was one of the temples in my city. Of course, before the session, we sought permission from the temple management to ensure that we wouldn’t face any issues while using their facilities during the shoot.
Although Keny is not of Chinese descent, I still believe that this concept suits her very well. This is because of Keny's skill in posing, which allows her to adapt to any concept when asked to do a photo session.
This was my second photo session with Keny, and during this meeting, I grew to appreciate her even more. During the session, I could focus entirely on my camera, finding the right settings to achieve the desired results. I no longer had to worry about directing her poses; I only needed to give a few instructions on whether to sit or stand, or if I wanted her to pose against a different background, and Keny would adjust her poses accordingly.
In this photo session, I used several supporting props to create two different looks, even though the outfit remained the same. If the session had taken place in a studio, I might have used two different outfits to create more variety in the photos. However, this wasn't an issue, as using props can also create different looks and vibes.
As you can see, in the first session, I only used a paper fan as a prop, and in the following session, I added a scarf, gloves, and a necklace. In the first session, I aimed for a minimalist look, while in the next session, I wanted to create a vintage yet elegant impression. I had actually considered adding another prop—a kiseru—but the price was quite high, so I decided against it. Even with these limited props, I was able to capture the photos just as I had envisioned.
Keny truly did not disappoint me; I am very happy with the photos I captured during our session. These photos were also taken to enhance my portfolio. I’m very grateful to have found the right model to help build my portfolio. I'm confident that you'll love the results as well. Thank you for continuing to support my work through the posts I share.
Warm regards from me.
Last but not least.
