In my previous post, I took you along on our journey while traveling toward the Riet Spruit hiking trail. This is in the Cumberland Nature Reserve, just outside Pietermaritzburg in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa.
Before we even left the camp, we had an interesting experience with a small herd of impala. Then, along the way, we found a bigger herd of impala. I then ended the post with a typical landscape scene on our way to the Riet Spruit.
We arrived at the starting point of various hiking trails and found ourselves at a small waterfall in the Riet Spruit. We spent some time there, admiring the waterfall and surrounding area. Today, I want to share some photos of this area.
Just above the Riet Spruit is a camping site where you can set up your tent. The starting points of various hiking trails are also here.
The Riet Spruit is a stream running through the Cumberland Nature Reserve. Although it is only a small stream, it is big enough to create two beautiful waterfalls inside the reserve. The one where we were, is known as the "Small Waterfall", and a little further downstream, you'll find the "Big Waterfall".
We only had enough time to visit the "Small Waterfall", but it was worth it.
Approaching the edge of the cliff, the stream is running way down at the bottom of the gorge.
Walking up toward the waterfall, there is a nice bench placed there to sit down, relax, and just enjoy the sound of the waterfall and the beauty of nature surrounding you.
Only a small stream, yet it creates beauty by finding its way down to the bottom of the gorge.

I'll end this post with my last two photos for today, looking down at the bottom, where the stream finds its way to continue its journey through the gorge.
