Whenever I travel for work, I always look out for places of attraction by reading the road signs. Most of the time, I don't get to visit the place if it is not on the roadside, but I do check it out on the internet and put it on my to-do list.
The first time I saw Clay Cliffs sign was last winter, and it was about 8km from site. So I couldn't visit, besides we had to postpone the project due to the snow-filled mountain track.
We were back in Quailburn, Omarama, last month, and I had a day off while away, so the opportunity to visit Clay Cliffs presented itself.
It was a 16km drive from my motel so I went for a solo hike. Though I saw other vehicles parked when I arrived but it was so isolated it felt like I was alone there.
Very beautiful Clay Cliffs, I embarked on a hike. I was surprised at how much I kept going.
I felt the urge to go through this small space to the other side but decided I am alone and turned back to explore other Cliffs.
I made it to a section top of the Clay, as seen in my first photo.
It is amazing how New Zealand 🇳🇿 is helping me to discover how much I like nature and especially considering no wild animal is going to attack me 😃.
It wasn't long before I saw people that had come for a hike start to emerg from the Cliffs.
I intend to do it again and next time with my hiking partner.
