A glimpse of Mt Cook from Lake Pukaki?

in #hive-1949133 days ago

I have spent the last two to three weeks on the roads of MacKenzie district, driving to and back from Wanaka, Queenstown, and working in Omarama and Twizel, so I drove past Lake Pukaki often and each day it presented me with a different beautiful look like I was seeing it for the first time.

The fourth mountain picture 📸 stands out to me every day, and I wonder if that was Mount Cook that I am seeing from Lake Pukaki or not.

I went to Mt Cook last year but was still new to the country. I didn't do a hike, which I plan to go back for.

Perhaps a second visit to Mount Cook will help me confirm if I am looking at Mt Cook from Lake Pukaki.

Superb photos of these snow-capped mountains, especially the zoom on the peak
Have a great day

Thank you, the zoom one really attracted me every day, I ended up focusing more on it 😃

A great day to you too

The white and blueness of the landscape is really amazing to see! Does the lake turn to ice during winter?

No it doesn't, though it is too cold to swim in the lake because it's always too cold even in summer. Those ice from the mountain melts into the lake.

Oh, I see. It would probably feel like a cold plunge when trying to swim on the lake then :)

White peaks across the water against sky makes a stunning capture. Agree the fourth down is Mt Cook across the lake, can imagine the beauty ever changes with seasons and weather in the moment.
