Can baby chameleons camouflage?

in #hive-1949132 years ago

Hi Hive Lovers

From a distance, I saw something moving above the ornamental fir trees. Ornamental fir trees are trees that have needle-like leaves; the leaves are not like leaves in general.

At first I thought it was a dry leaf from another tree that was blown about by the wind and stuck in the ornamental fir tree, but it moved back and its movement looked like walking.

When I got closer, it turned out to be a small brown chameleon. I thought he was a baby chameleon. It's the size of a little finger and really looks tiny.

When I got very close, he just didn't move. Maybe he thought he had changed his body color; he must have realized that he was a chameleon who should be able to change color to camouflage.

He really couldn't trick me; he still didn't change his body color, and he kept still and didn't move. I didn't want to wait long to take out my #SamsungA52 cell phone to capture it.

I immediately did a quick photo shoot to capture some pictures of him looking so cool. In fact, I can get my camera closer to about 3 cm to be in macro mode, and he still doesn't move.

He still seems comfortable with my presence being that close; 3 cm to get some photos with the camera in macro mode is a very close distance for an animal.

I got some good pictures, and they look very clear for a photographic object in the form of this wild animal. He should be really wild and immediately run away from me. But he was still a baby chameleon who seemed completely inexperienced.

Or this baby chameleon thinks it's managed to camouflage itself to trick me, so it feels safe not to move. If that's what he's thinking, then he's fine because he ran into me, who only got closer to catch a few of his poses.

Here are some photos of my luck in finding a baby chameleon:

Your photographs are very beautiful. I have never seen this animal. It looks like a lizard but it is much bigger. Thank you so much for sharing the beautiful photography.

I believe its a lizard on your images not a chameleon
You can tell by shape of eyes, its fingers, tail etc
