Hi all 👋🏻
Today I want to share with you a walk around the trail of “THE LOUGHNANEANE PARK SCULPTURE TRAIL” in ROSCOMMON” ~ Ireland 🇮🇪
It’s special as it shows us so much #history… and #Irish #fables.
With this post I’m joining in at the Wednesday Walk challenge and Make me Smile challenge. That are hosted by @tattoodjay and @elizacheng every week on Wednesday.

Today’s selection will be of 15 PHOTOGRAPHS
Date: 27 May 2023.
The Photographs in this post are all taken with my iPhone 📱🤓
I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are experiencing my adventures on this #walk, to 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 #discover everything what I saw, like the little #details seen through my eyes and observe with me the stunning #scenery, #sculptures, #woodcarving, trail. 😊
The following screenshot is the location of this trail on Google maps, see the yellow star ⭐️:
Zooming out a bit you see the following screenshot of Google maps:
It’s next to Roscommon itself.
If you want to know more about this trail it has a page on the following website: LOUGHNANEANE sculpture trail
“Where you find that the park is 14 acre large”
At the entrance of the park we find this sign that tells us a bit more about the trail and the figures /the sculptures…
It says:
”The Sculpture Trail serves as a reminder of the rich history and heritage of Loughnaneane Park culminating in an opportunity to sit in the Nature Chair.”
The Mythical Tapestry of Loughnaneane Park.
Going under the waters of Énloch (which once covered this park) provided a doorway to the fabled Irish Otherworldly, we hear from a mid-ninth century tale.
About;
Gaelic Kings and Norman Lords at Roscommon Castle.
This castle (which is in ruins and from the 13th century) I will show you in a separate post, as it does need its own post. Once you see it… you will understand why 😎😉 so stay tuned!
Let’s look around and start our walk for today 😊
Are you coming along?
Yes… great 👋🏻
We see the pond in the distance and even further the church of Roscommon.
As we want to see the wooden sculptures we find the first one, quite fast.
Here we see QUEEN MEAVE
This trail and park has a few walking routes… along trees that just got their leaves back. As when I visited it was spring.
Following along we see the next sculpture.
This is CÚ CUCHULAINN
It’s fascinating to see how well the face is carved and the expression on his face is brilliantly done 😎
Let’s walk further… we reach here THE NATURE CHAIR
Look at all the details, the #animals depicted. One can sit on this #chair and enjoy #nature all around 🥰
For the observant viewer… the ruins are in the background 😉
Let’s change the angle…
This is a large chair. I Love the wings spreading out into the #sky 😎
Ok ok… we have rested enough now.
Come let’s walk further, there is more to see 😁
We find another wooden sculpture.
This is AEDH O’CONOR THE REBEL OF CONNACHT
The grass around us is so #green… 💚 there are #swifts flying low over it to catch #insects in mid flight 😎
We see here FELIM O’CONOR KING OF CONNACHT
A little bit further away and when you look in the sky, left side where it is white, you see one of those swifts flying…
If you think what is Connacht after seeing it on these sculptures…
Connacht is a province in Ireland and the counties it covers are Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo.
Source!
…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends.
Join me next time for more #updates, #adventures, #stories and #photographs 😎👋🏻 and some CASTLE RUINS.
Even my own #artworks, once in a while, will come by” 🎨
Thank you so much for looking, and reading.
