With the help of photography I am able to get closer to the beauty that I often ignored. I am amazed how intricate, tiny yet powerful is the structure of the flowers. And these following three shots are my another humble effort to show this magic, up close. I’m still learning though, but it’s so interesting how much detail I can see when I succeed with the technique of macro shooting!
“The Smoking Daisy”
This first shot is a play... My idea was to somehow collect a smoke in the cavity formed by the petals of a daisy flower. I was looking around for solutions, even looking a small hand held fog machine of second hand. Then I remembered the long forgotten incense sticks lying in one of the cupboard. I placed one of them just under the flower and the effect was satisfying to me. It made me smile—it’s a daisy that looks like it’s breathing out smoke! I played around with lighting and shutter speed to give it this dreamy look. It’s a reminder to experiment with different perspectives.
“A Splash of Magenta”
A common mallow... I can see it everywhere in my place. Beautiful color. I couldn’t resist capturing the alien-like details of this purple flower’s center. It looks so fertile and full of life. Those curling shapes and the pop of magenta were mesmerizing! Honestly, I never realized how delicate is this plant before. Apart from the details I was and still I am astonished with the continuum from green branch to the purple stem as if passing through a gate which opens to a burst of axons trying to communicate with me. Could the meaning of life be a revelation to contemplate upon and inspired from?
“Bold and Beautiful in Red”
I think they call this one as "moss rose", not sure. This vibrant red bloom was glowing in the sunlight in my balcony, and I wanted to highlight the rich colors and star shape forming on the petals. The bright orange pollen scattered across the petals adds such a bold, lively vibe—it’s like the flower is bursting with energy.
I’m doing macro photography for a while, and I love how it makes me slow down and appreciate the little things. Nature is full of surprises, and these tiny worlds are waiting for me to notice them.
Which of these shots do you like the most? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
All the best...
