In the naked eye, it's bright and colorful but when you put a monochromatic filter, everything feels different and that is why I love taking black and white pictures. It is really exciting to transform a regular photo into a black and white photo. The absence of color ironically makes a photo convey more deep emotions. And for me, photography is not just capturing a moment but also a feeling. So I hope you guys will enjoy this collection.
This is a photo I took of an uninhabited sandbar near Camiguin Island. The ocean was soooo blue and the skies look alive, but making this photo black and white just made a lot of sense because the name of the place screamed for it, and that is: White Island.
This was taken during the infamous lockdown. My little sister wanted to celebrate Halloween party with her friends but obviously we can't because of COVID restrictions. Because of that, she walked around the house as ghost trying to spook everyone. I love how this photo came out because it is so minimalistic.
So lucky to have taken a photo of the Longest Bridge in the Philippines during its early days of construction (2020). Kept this photo for long time so I would compare it to what it looks like today.
After 2 long years, the bridge was finally done. Took the liberty to take a photo on the side walk since the security was not strict at that time hahaha
Another angle of CCLEX bridge. Mama took this photo of me.
Black and white Photos are also good in portrait photography. Like I said earlier, the lack of color intensifies the story, emotion and light of the photo.
I just love how black and white photos look so timeless and elegant.
This was in Simala Parish Church. A place known for Miracles.
A photo of my sister when we were hanging out in our garage. Love taking random pictures in our garage because it has good lighting.
Took this photo of my best friend in her school dormitory. Originally this photo was so bright because we were facing directly to the light but the black and white filter made this one a balanced photo.
They are just days that I feel gray and I take advantage of that feeling and materialize it by capturing black and white photos. Before I take a photograph, I subconsciously imagine the visual in black and white that's why my technique is I shoot in color then I convert the images to black and white in the editing process.
If you have an interest in black and white photography, try it out with seeing in shades of grey and have fun creating powerful images.
I hope you guys enjoyed this collection and see you on the next one!
