Instant Karma at Holiday Park

If it didn't happen to me today I wouldn't believe it but sometimes things happen that we have no control over.

It started last year when my daughter booked a holiday through a company called hoseasons.

Pool is Closed

A few days before we were due to go on holiday hoseasons cancelled our booking stating that they had let our holiday venue to a golf club? No explanation.

They refunded our costs (£900.00) but no apologies or compensation was offered. This was at the height of the pandemic when the lockdown had just lifted.

Some holiday firms started charging stupid amounts of money for what used to be a relatively cheap caravan holiday.

You can make your own assumptions about what was going on in the greedy minds of hoseasons.

Looks too Cold Anyway

My daughter and the grandkids still needed a holiday but couldn't get anything at the same price as the pandemic meant that everyone was trying to find holidays in the UK.

Eventually my daughter booked this holiday that we tried to get to today. She booked it last year and got seriously gouged on the price. (£2700) for two weeks in a caravan in Kent!?

When I was told about the sky high prices I was more than a bit pissed off with hoseasons and challenged them on their business practices.

They argued that she didn't have to book the holiday with them which is true but this blatant scalping of people in a time of great stress seems a little beyond the pale to me.

We asked for a refund and they said we could cancel but would lose 90% of what we'd paid.
We decided to bite the bullet as we'd already paid but it left a bad taste in the mouth.

Business ethics doesn't exist in companies like this and there are many more of them these days in Britain.

They do not care about their reputation just profits. This is a bad idea.

I took to Twitter to expose their shady methods and found pages of complaints going back months. Gave up on that idea.

Tldr: We arrived at the caravan holiday park today to find that the pool was closed until next month and the clubhouse had caught fire last week neither of these event's had been conveyed to us.

My daughter who had arrived before us was incandescent but being a former air crew knows how to compose herself in a difficult situation. She demanded a full refund.

We had booked a holiday with a heated pool and children's facilities (clubhouse) and as neither of these were working hoseasons were in breach of contract.

They were forced into refunding our full payment.

We left immediately and found another caravan holiday park 30 minutes away that was fully equipped and operated by a reputable company and less than half the price. £450 for a weeks stay.🤯

Next week we have booked another week at another holiday camp again for £650.🤯

When profit is your only goal. Be careful you don't score an own goal

We will never forget hoseasons and in a weird way this holiday is now unforgettable as things usually are when you seize victory from defeat.👍

I'm on a holiday park with no Wifi and just 4g so my posts may not appear as often.

I research everything and many times come away disappointed (not really) that I found something that turned me away from them. It just happened to me this week with a contractor.

I sure am glad she got her money back and still had a great vacation! Woo-hoo Good for her!

We're still on vacation. This happened just last Monday. It's pretty amazing that we have to keep an eye on everything we buy?
The days of trusting a company to do the right thing seems to be fading away?

What happened with your contractor?

I am a huge believer in reading all available reviews...even for a 25 dollar item lol. I think the internet has put the power into the hands of the public, we just have to get used to being as informed as possible. Glad it worked out in the end.

Yep I usually research the crap out of everything especially when it involves me opening up my wallet. Lol

Hoseasons used to be a reputable and reliable company.
Apparently they were bought out by some shady firm and it's gone to hell.

Shocking behaviour from these kind of shady firms is now the norm in Britain.
