It must have been blown out of its nest after the strong wind.
Hi, she said, are you my daddy?
I sat outside early this morning with a cup of coffee, as it was going to be a hot day. At 33 Celsius, later it would not be wise to go anywhere outside due to dangerous UV rays, but early morning before the sun starts to fire things up, it was pleasant to sit in the cool early breeze. Soon, even the house will become an oven also inside.
My cooling system inside is a handful of cold showers, and in-between the showers, my wife keeps some wet cloths in the freezer that I wrap around my head and neck. Then we also have cold fridge water to drink. This is all well during the day, but at night at temps in the late 20s, it becomes a battle to sleep.
So, come and have a look at this picture story.
She sat waiting for my answer, but I just shook my head no.
Then she flew into a shady spot.
And she landed on the trestles of our box plants.
A closer look at where she was sitting.
Happily, my wife laid out a dish of water and some biscuit crumbs for her, as my wife is always happy when she can feed something.
The mom also made an appearance just to check if the baby was safe.
But the baby did not eat or drink as we hoped, as she rather sat sleeping in the heat.
We call these below cat naps, catching fish, as her head kept on tilting like a fisherman's line monitor. Lol.
Sadly, we did not see her go, and we can only assume that the mom came to fetch her. Thankfully, most of the neighbors are away on holiday, and they take their cats and pets with them. So, there is little chance that a cat or a dog will try to catch the baby. I had no urge to try and catch her in order to keep her trapped as a pet, as we believe that the wild was meant to stay in the wild.
Such is life.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and in my next post, I will show you a dove's battle to build her nest in our strong wind.
