Random views on a rainy day.

The roads had that slippery glaze on them.

We were on our way to attend an early morning charity meeting, and it rained for most of the day.

But not to worry, as I am an old hand at driving in much more difficult situations than this, and after the meeting we traveled around a bit to get some sights to share with you. According to the weatherman, it will continue to rain until next week Friday, and we will get around swimmingly well:)
Always two sides to a coin, as although we are happy that all the water is filling the dams, the other side of the coin is that we have already had some floods in some of the city suburbs. So, it is the same old, same old, as people are bound to lose their houses again in the floods.

You can see the rain falling below when I opened the garage door to pull the car out.

A bleak and very wet day.

This picture below was a closer look at the back end of the picture above.

We popped in for some hot coffee at one of our favorite wine farms.

And I also managed to get a brief period of sunshine before the sun disappeared again.

I used that brief period of sunshine to get some bird photos that I will show you in another post.

Thankfully, our area had no floods and although there is still work in progress on the river lower down near the ocean, our area has been done and we can hear the sound of the river as the water rages past, near our house. The river starts at the mountain, and it courses through the town down to the ocean at a distance of 6km. As I said before, we live halfway between the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, so it is very easy for us to visit the mountains or the beach. Obviously, there are different bird species at the mountains and at the sea, but I have a leaning towards the mountainside, as the birds are much more colorful. The predator birds like eagles, buzzards and falcons also prefer to hunt on the lower slopes of the mountains, and that's where I get them on camera.
Such is life.

I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.
