You might remember my post where I showed how a Jackal Buzzard raided a sparrow nest in the tree across the road from our home. If not, you can see the post HERE
True wisdom, as the sparrows that lost their babies to the hawk, saw me trying to chase the hawk away and now they are building a new nest in the granadilla fence right here at our gate.
The little male is sent out by his wife to go and look for arguments with the bigger birds, so that he can pluck their feathers in a fight for their nest. The unlucky opponent in this case was a guineafowl :)
Only joking, as it is Saturday and there should always be time for a smile.
That is the nest in our fence below the sparrow. You can see the front door of the nest.
Plonk! He put the feather inside the nest.
He popped out again.
And then the wife arrived to arrange the new furniture inside the nest.
Here below, and also in the first picture, you can see that the sparrow is not scared to even tackle an Egyptian goose for a feather :)
Oh! I told you that the little sparrows are clever and the male likes music. So he hired this little sunbird below to supply the music while they build their nest.
Just some fun on a Saturday. And it is amazing how these little birds operate. It is said that sparrows are the bravest little birds in the world, as there are very few countries where there are no sparrows. They don't have many predators as adults, but as usual it is always the babies in the nests that are in danger.
I don't know if it was their actual wisdom to come and build their nest right here at our gate, but I hope that it was as they will know by now that we will keep a constant eye on their nest. No hawk or any other raptor bird will be allowed anywhere near their nest. So I take my hat off to their wisdom.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.
