Not any hawk, but the harrier hawk that I have posted my battle with him before. He knows that there is a new nest at our home, and he wants to get to the babies.
I knew what he wanted as he stared down at the nest in the front fence of our house.
But he also saw me, and I was ready this time for him with the hosepipe in my hand. That hawk would certainly have a bath like he has never had before if he dared to come down here. We keep a constant eye on the nest in our front garden, and it is easy to keep an eye on it as all of our windows look on to the nest. I knew that the hawk would return, as he was successful the first time when he came. Since then I have had another battle with him that I also posted, and this is now the third and I hope the last time.
Come and see.
So, the hawk turned away and I thought that he was trying to fool me by looking in another direction, hoping that I would go inside.
This is what he wanted. And we will make sure that he doesn't get these babies, as they will soon be ready to fly. We call the babies, the twins.
The hawk swung his head to look in another direction, but I knew he was watching me.
Then all of a sudden, he crouched.
And before I could widen the zoom, he took off.
But not very far, as he landed in this palm down the road.
So I walked to the palm down the road and the leaves were dense, but I saw that he was searching the palm tree for nests.
My shouting chased him out of the palm tree, and he went to sit down at the house next to the palm tree.
Here you can see the hawk taking off and flying right across the roof of our house.
Finally, it was all over, as the hawk didn't return.
Just the way of nature, I know, but if we can save these little two babies then it will make up for the two that the hawk took the first time round from the tree across the road. The sparrows were very clever to come and build the nest here at our home, as they saw me chasing the hawk before. So maybe the sparrow association will give me a Nobel peace prize medal :)
I know the time that the hawk arrives, and then we are on high alert. Soon the babies will leave the nest, and I hope to get some shots on my camera to show you their first flight.
I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.
