A Norman Silhouette

This is a sculpture called Landing by Leigh Dyer celebrating the anniversary of the battle of Hastings. It was in 1066 when William the Conqueror invaded from Normandy, France and it was actually the last time England was successful invaded.

I took the photo around sunset so you see the silhouette of the ship’s prow right here on Hastings beach. There are even two people silhouetted against the horizon in the background. They are enjoying the first sunny day here in England this February.

We climbed up the East Hill for this fascinating view of the Old Town of Hastings. I was also lucky enough to spot a few bunnies whilst I was up there. I also saw a small fox, called Fred, who was probably also out hunting bunnies but for a very different reason than me.

Usually you see a lot more wildlife but we arrived here at the stunning viewpoint rather late, as one of us had a lie-in
and the rest of us had to work remotely in the morning.
