Amazing people of Zanzibar, Tanzania - part 4

in #hive-1949132 years ago

Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!

As promised, I´m coming with the 4th and also final part of my mini photography series dedicated to the amazing people of Zanzibar today. The previous 3 parts have received a very nice feedback from you and a lot of engagement with a total of approximately 200 comments, many of which were really interesting and thoughtful. Thank you guys for all of that, I really appreciate it. It was a pleasure to prepare this series for you. I hope this little insight into the lifestyle of people living on this extraordinary Tanzanian archipelago was useful for you and that you now have a better idea of what life in there looks like and feels like. Let me now wrap up the series with the final batch of photos.

To make the series complete, I will add the links to the previous parts below and I will also add them to each of the parts so that whoever stumbles on whichever part of it in future will also be able to find the other parts of it. Hopefully these posts can also attract some off-chain traffic to Hive as well since Zanzibar is still a relatively unknown destination to many tourists and travelers. Let me also mention one more time that the first part of the series came with an introduction to the history and culture of Zanzibar and its amazing people so if you missed that one, please feel free to check it out now. The links are below.

Now that this series is over, I will start working on other posts that will show you the natural beauties of the islands, the astonishing beaches, the Zanzibar national park, the unique tradition of seaweed farming, the typical rural architecture and much more. Hopefully, I will be able to come with a new post every week. Until then... Hakuna Matata! :)

Sort:

I have noticed that many of the photos as well as in the other posts were taken nearby the sea or beach. The sea looks like everything for those people.

Yeah, well spotted :) The Indian Ocean has been an integral part of the local lifestyle, giving the people everything from food to fun :)

Další pěkná "sonda" do života místních obyvatel :-)

The last of four in the Zanzibar series but definitely not the least! Brilliant photography, as always! @phortun

Sorry for only a brief comment right now. I had surgery on my thumb and need to stop using my hand for awhile.

Super fotky! Zavidim, zavidim, zavidim 😍

Tie deti k vam prisli same? To dievcatko na prvej fotke je strasne zlate 🙂

Zanzibar musi byt uzasna destinacia!

IMG_20221223_104158.jpg

Tohle byli naši průvodci. Ten vlevo fakt uměl slovensky a ten vpravo fakt uměl polsky (a trochu česky :D) Určitě se tam někdy vydejte, budete nadšení :)

Goodnight My Love GIF by MOODMAN

Great photography… Freddie Mercury was from Zanzibar

That´s right! He was born there and spent his childhood there :) Thanks for stopping by!

I'm actually fascinated by these people, the kids, their clothes, I'm watching Netflix and I'm thinking, do these kids ever make a wish, have they heard of social media?
However, you can see the sincere joy on their faces.
Yes, I was moved again by your post.

Well, from what we observed, people do have phones there too but not everyone and especially not these little kids. Why should they when they have this amazing, clear and year round warm ocean as their backyard :) As I already said in the previous parts, the locals might look poor by our standards but they seemed to be much happier than us ;)

You made some very interesting points, first of all you said they have phones but not all of them especially those young children, now they come to my community where in the vast majority of homes there is at least a mobile phone (smartphone), I visited the kindergarten here, believe me, some children had mobile phones for their parents to talk to them.
And two I totally agree with you that they are happier than us.

Yeah, I know. Here in my country, it´s also common that kids that don´t even go to school yet (means five years old and younger) have their own phones and tablets... If I was a kid and could choose between a phone and ocean, I would totally pick the ocean :)

I agree with you, of course I too would choose the ocean, but you see technology is pushing us from behind and effectively hypnotising us, I don't know if we can fight back in any way.
I can tell you that where technology has not yet arrived everything is like in heaven, there is still happiness, that is true happiness, and I tell you where in Romania technology has not yet arrived, I know you may not believe that there are such places.
We still have very small villages in the mountains of Romania, where they still don't even have electricity, their name in Romanian is "hamlets", I even visited one 3 years ago, I think when you visit such a village where people instead of lighting a light bulb light a candle, ufff, very emotional.

Yeah, I know what you mean and I believe there are still these communities living somewhere in rural remote areas. I don´t know if there are any also in the Banat Region that I heard about because it is said that Czech people used to go there and built some villages there long time ago but I don´t really know much about that. Maybe it´s not what you talk about. But yeah, visiting people who still live without electricity and all the technologies we use every day must be very special experience...

Wow, I'm glad to see that you have heard of certain areas in Romania, in the Banat mountains I think there are still such houses, I referred to those in the Apuseni mountains, Alba Iulia county, there and today there are still such places, I tell you from experience that visiting them will leave deep traces in your soul (in a good way).

Right. I haven´t been to Romania myself yet, I just know the Banat Region as many Czech travelers go there because of the villages founded by the Czech people in the past. I think my sister was there too a few years ago, I need to ask her :D

mega fotky chlape!
a kazdy jeden Tvoj post zo Zanzibaru mi len potvrdzuje, ze tam prote musim ist a vsetko to vidiet vlastnymi ocami..

A friend of mine went to Zanzibar for vacation, she couldn't stop gushing about how beautiful the place was and i got curious of how the place is and the people

Nice shot @phortun

Hehe, that´s nice, I´m happy to join your friend in that gushing then :D It´s much closer to Zanzibar from your country than from Europe so hopefully, you will make there too one day. Fascinating place indeed.

Yeah i sure will🙃

Wow, nearly 200 comments on 3 posts? That's a lot! But now seeing this part makes me understand why because there are lots of things that I feel like commenting about while feeling that words will never be enough to get any closer to what you actually felt during this trip :)

Thank you Gabriela! Yeah, people seem to really enjoy engagement under posts from unusual places. Thanks for stopping by! :)

These are cool looking photos. The Zanzibar people seems to have rich and colourful culture.

It's also nice to take time off from the hustling and bustling of cities and civilization to come down and appreciate unadulterated nature.

Thanks for sharing

!hiqvote

Well spotted! As simple as their lifestyle may appear, the culture of the people is actually very rich and diverse, having been influenced by many different nations over the centuries. Thanks for stopping by, I´m glad you enjoyed the pictures :)

Welcome mate

Dear @phortun friend, I hope you are recovered and in good health!...

For heaven's sake... I had a wonderful "photo breakfast" looking at these exquisite photos wich you share today... (It's not a metaphor, I was really having breakfast of toast, yogourt, bananas and latte coffe when I looked at them) :)

I couldn't say which of these I like the most, but the first one with the portrait of the boy looking directly at the camera is marvelous, but that one with the small sailing boat almost made me jump out of my chair!... But really each one is a wonderful story of colors, eloquence, humanity and wonderful photographic instinct...

I am deeply grateful that you have shared with us this wonderful series of this charming place like Zanzibar... A hug and a round of applause from me to you!...

Thanks again for your lovely comments and curation. Means a lot. Cheers!

Wow, these photos truly capture the beauty of Zanzibar. The vibrant colours are stunning. It's also great to see the different lifestyle of the community. Thanks for sharing!

Hola @phortun.

Hello @phortun. Knowing Zanzibar has been a great experience for you and for all of us who could appreciate your series of photos. The colors, the sea, the sand, all the landscapes are beautiful where the people who inhabit the place make their lives. It is good to know that there will be more publications, there are algae hung in two photos and we suppose that they are cultivated. It will be very interesting to know about this activity. Another photo that caught our attention is where a group of women and children are in the sea surrounding something. All the photos are a photographic jewel and thank you very much for each one of them.

Thank you very much for your lovely feedback and support guys, I really appreciate it! :) Your observations are correct, those two photos indeed captured a part of the seaweed farming process and the group of people in the ocean was actually catching fish with a large piece of cloth, very interesting method :)

Thanks to you, certainly a very interesting fishing method, it is fascinating to know traditions of other brothers in the world. Greetings and a blue hug 💙
