Seascape Photography: amazing beaches of Zanzibar - part 1

in #hive-1949132 years ago

Hey there my Hive friends and followers!

I have been so busy with a plethora of things over the past few weeks (both here on Hive and in the real life too) and I cannot believe that it has almost been a month since I published something from Zanzibar. That´s right, even though our stay on this fascinating Tanzanian archipelago was short and long gone, there are still some Tanzanian posts that I´m yet to make for you and I´m happy to finally come up with one that I have promising for a long time. I hope you are ready for some nice beach experience because that´s what this post will be about - the stunning Zanzibar beaches.

When it comes to beaches, Zanzibar is surely one of the most popular destinations in all Africa. The Unguja Island (the biggest island of the Zanzibar Archipelago) boasts dozens of beautiful beaches scattered all over the coastline but it´s in the northern part of the island where you can find the most spectacular beaches with incredibly fine, white sand and crystal clear, turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. It did remind me of the Caribbean when I was there with all those tropical vibes, coconut palms in the background etc. Most of the pictures of this mini series were actually taken up there in the north but you will also see photos of beaches from other parts of the island. Oh and yeah, it´s a mini series. When going through the photos, I realized there would be too many of them for just one post so I decided to split it into two parts, each featuring 17 pictures. Here comes the first one. Enjoy! :)

I hope you liked the pictures. If you did, stay tuned for the second part of this series that will show up here on my blog next week, probably on Tuesday or Wednesday. In general, the Zanzibar beaches are really fun to explore and enjoy. They are safe with shallow waters and very gradual descent so they are suitable even for families with little kids. The waves were not too big either and we didn´t see any dangerous animals in the ocean except the sea urchins but they are usually very easy to spot on the white sandy bottom.

If you want to know more about coastal life of Zanzibar, you may also want to check out some of my previous posts such as the ones about the extreme tides, the seaweed farming and the marine wildlife.

So that´s it for today, thanks for your attention guys. I will see you here with the second part next week. Until then... Hakuna Matata! :)

The sand and water seem wonderful together with coconuts trees. I have always wanted spend some days on such beach in a far point of the world from where I am ;)

I know and I´m sure you will get to a place like this one day :) It´s actually much closer to this part of Africa from your country than it is from mine. Fingers crossed!

I need to know the cost at first :)

The accommodation is not expensive on Zanzibar so if you find some cheap air tickets, you can enjoy the island without breaking the bank :)

Wuaooo that is white sand and turquoise water! I loved the pictures, spectacular! I definitely need beach in my life haha, sure my skin is whiter from so much cold in winter haha. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks amiga! Well, Poland has a sea coast and beaches as well but they are very different from what you guys have in Venezuela :D Maybe Pawel will take you to Gdansk or Sopot one day and you will see :) Thanks for stopping by!

Yes, yes my friend. Paweł showed me Gdansk, and I want to go but when it's not so cold yet hahaha.

Wow @phortun beautiful photography, white color beach and sky blue color of sky really influence our mind. I can say definitely you really had enjoyed on that place and I would like to see in my life once.

Stay connected

I did enjoy my time over there, thanks for dropping by :)

All these places looks like heaven. By going to such places, a person forgets the sorrows of his life and enjoys the way we see that the natural sights that happen are very good to the heart of a person and gives peace. This tree is probably a palm tree. There are people living there who can visit such places daily.

Thanks for your original feedback, it is a place where people tend to forget their sorrows indeed :) And yes, those are palm trees, it´s mentioned in the post...

Welcome

That looks like a great place! Waters remind me of the Caribbean. Never been to Zanzibar I may have to add it to the bucket list. Very pretty water!
!CTP

Thanks :) It did feel like good old Caribbean except there were no "narcos vibes" :D (sorry, lived on the Caribbean coast of Mexico for too long I guess :D)

Strong colors, light everywhere, vehement and exquisite contrast... What impressive photos!... A pleasure to look at this!... Beach photography in its purest form!... Thanks for sharing!...

Thank you my friend! :) I wouldn´t mind returning there for a few more days either haha :) How is it going in Scotland?

You are welcome 😊👋🏻 I can imagine hahaha 🤣

Scotland is stunning, I love it. Just sad I have to leave soon…
I’m right in the middle of packing boxes again and organising a country move. So haven’t been posting much, just 1 Wednesday walk post a week I manage… although I am around to support others.
Have a wonderful week 😎 and enjoy today!

Oh no, I´m sorry to hear this :( Packing again... Have you picked the Plan B destination yet?

Thank you so much, yep packing again. I just finished unpacking all hahaha 🤣 They refused my residency 😖 so can’t stay much longer.
Yep… plan B will be Ireland 🇮🇪 no visas needed there for both of us.
It will be cool. Although we never expected this, all because of Brexit.
I sure don’t have a boring life hahaha 😇 I keep you updated @phortun
Have a great Wednesday!

Ireland, wow, sounds exciting :) Not far from Scotland and from I have heard and seen, equally beautiful so I´m sure you will love it there too. Hopefully, you will be able to stay there for some time because you must be already fed up with all the moving stuff :D :( Good luck guys so that everything goes smoothly this time!

Yes, indeed exciting 🤩 and it isn’t to far. It is a bit down again so the weather is milder and warmer in winter and summer than Scotland. The scenery and nature is equally beautiful. We go to the west side… so very similar than the highlands.
Thank you so much @phortun 😊
I am exhausted and truly fed up with moving… we will stay for a while, I am sure.
Thanks much appreciated 🤞🏻
Have a good night 😴

Dude, the photos are simply amazing. I love the view, sometimes I wish I had a house far away from everything, within walking distance to the beach and when I get bored I could just jump into the ocean. Maybe I will have such a life in the future 😎.

Thanks for sharing these with us, I hope to see more about these beach

We have been lucky enough to have a chance to try a lifestyle like this (in a house / apartment within walking distance to beaches like these) and it was really amazing. I hope you will get to experience it too one day :) Cheers my friend!

Wow, this is really a beautiful beach I want to enjoy the natural scenery like this but my baby is still young have to wait a few more months to enjoy the beautiful nature

It is :) Thanks for checking out the photos.

Wow - every post about Zanzibar is so special. The beaches look amazing - reminds me of the Caribbean. Lovely.

They did remind me of the Caribbean indeed :) Thanks for stopping by!

💙💙💙🙏

My sme prešli celú Sardíniu a taká voda tam fakt nie je.

These beaches are stunning indeed! I never made it to Zanzibar, but my husband has raved about the fine powdery sand.
Yes, the Caribbean and Negril's 7 miles of white sand are spectacular, however, I avoided it the last time I was in Jamaica because harassment is just too much.

I hope I'll make it to Zanzibar one day, as I've heard great things about the people, Zanzibar doors, and of course what you've shown here 😍

Thanks for your comment! I haven´t been to Jamaica yet but visited quite a lot of other places in the Caribbean and they were all amazing :) Some of the bluest / most turquoise waters I have ever seen in my life...

Oh yeah, the Zanzibar people are just so nice. I have actually dedicated a whole series to them. Very special people indeed. Poor but happy and inspiring :)

Poor but happy and inspiring :)

WOW! Thanks for sharing the link to your previous post. Each photo is special and made me smile 😍

As I look at the temperature outside I see my morning is a chilly 30°F. Your gorgeous seascape images of Zanzibar's warm, sandy beaches and beckoning turquoise oceans are a welcome sight! @phortun

Upvoted and curated💯✍

Thank you Nina! Same here, it was even snowing here in Prague just last night :D :/ Glad to know that these sweet tropical memories brought some warmth not only to my place :) Thanks a lot for your kind feedback, support and curation!

Oh man, those are so beautiful! I don't know what annoys me more the fact that this place looks so beautiful and we are supposed to get snow today or the high probability that the song Zanzibar by Billy Joel is going to be stuck in my head all day now.

Thanks man! Haha, no worries, it was snowing here last night too, these pictures feel like super distant memories now :D :/ I didn´t know the song! Interesting. But there is another one that keeps sticking in my head very often since we returned from Zanzibar and it´s this one:

Fun fact: did you know that Freddie Mercury was born on Zanzibar and spent his childhood there? :)

I did not know that about Freddie! It looks like a pretty amazing place. Not a bad way to spend your childhood at all!

oh the natural scenery in the sea that you visit is really very beautiful and beautiful I like sometimes really like to go to the sea to hunt photos there

Thanks for checking out the post and leaving your comment here. Have a nice day.

I just want to burry my feet in that sand!! It looks so peaceful! I bet the water is warm too. The Maritimes portion of Canada where I grew up does have some nice beaches but the water is cold. Seems like yo get to move around quite a bit and still see many great things.

Well, this trip to Africa was in December and it was super short (at least by our nomadic standards :D) but I still haven´t posted everything from there yet, although a lot of Zanzibar posts have already showed up here on my blog in the past few months. Oh yeah, the water was warm! Zanzibar is actually located just a few degrees off the equator so it´s as tropical over there as it gets :) Thanks for swinging by Lady Bug! I mean Lady Rainbow :)

I need to experience the equator, I think just the sunlight remaining constant would mess with my entire concept of time and seasons. I still have a hard time to digest that half of the world is about to get ready for winter when I'm just getting out of it... haha

Doesn't matter if the trip was short, there is still room for plenty of pictures when it looks this nice. You will probably get to go back at some point too and visit aspects you may have missed. I'll take a dig down your memory lane then so I can enjoy the scenery with you.

Well, Zanzibar is actually a few degrees south of the equator and that is, for us from the Northern Hemisphere, even more confusing... The sun appears to travel from the right to the left, the moon crescent is inverted into this unusual smiley position etc. Plus the constant sunlight, temperature, times of the sunrise and sunset all year round... The equatorial regions are very interesting to be around :)

I bet it would be interesting, it would be soooo confusing! As much as parts of me wants to think summer and beaches all year round would be the coolest thing in the world, knowing the north, there are many aspects I would miss about winter as far as activities and scenery.

Here we get massive long days in the summer but really short ones in the winter. I used to work winter more north in the borealis forest which is much closer to the Arctic circle, it was even worse, 3 hours of daylight per day. Winter blues is a real thing out here and it comes from the lack of sunlight. On/near the solstice it's epic especially in the summer. something like 19 hours of daylight in the summer where I live on the longest days.

Yeah, the farther you are from the equator, the bigger the differences in everything are. Just 3 hours of daylight per day sounds crazy. The shortest day here in my country, on the winter solstice, is something like 7 hours of daylight... I actually hate it when it gets dark in the afternoon already, so depressive :/

7 hours I wish that was our shortest day! You are right tho about closer to the poles. We do have arctic communities and it's 6 months of darkness and 6 months of daylight. Now that would be trippy, except for winter tho.

be hard to tell if it's morning or night when you wake up from a nap!

Funny how we word things different based on where we live too. closer to the equator, closer to the pole. We have santa claus bahaha.
