In a world of black and white, think grey.
A month ago, I received a message from a former classmate. She asked me to take photos of her for her birthday. I said yes. I grabbed my trusty old camera and took a photo.
I was promised a treat. Was kinda fine with it at first. Except, she's late, took a while, and rain started pouring. We cut the shoot, I secured my camera and equipment in their ride. I drove back home soaking wet (I drive a motorcycle). She said her thanks and everything else.
I was hoping for her to say that she owed me or something. But she didn't.
We met again to get my equipment (I was the one who traveled again). I jokingly said that I kinda need a bonus for the gas. And her face went full disgust.
Well, kinda felt bad. But I decided to take the high road and... just kidding. I'm a bit petty for crying out loud!
She demanded that I send all the photos and edit all of them. Meh, I didn't. But I still send her the photos. Exported the files in a different format (not jpeg). And set the privacy of google drive to "only view files". Of course, she didn't know that.
She had the perfect look of the pics and she can't download it. And every time she asks me to send another copy, I just answer with "come to my place and bring a flash drive" (we live 30kms apart). If I see her do an effort, I will let her have the files.
That's why don't stick to black and white, think grey. There is always a balance in-between. You don't have to be mean and be butthurt and end the friendship. You just had to meet halfway. HAHA! We're still friends tho.
(she told me that she'll get the files when we're both free but so far our schedules don't match)
