Meet Obaluaye.

In Yorùbá cosmology, Obaluaye is the god of small pox and infirmity. The god that causes "the grains men had eaten to come out on their skins" as a sign of “divine displeasure”.

He is originally known as Ṣọpọna. However, his true name is considered sacred and not to be said aloud, so as to not invoke the power of disease.

Obaluaye prides himself as Alápa-dúpé, meaning “One who kills and is thanked for it.” Cocky, isn't he?

Ever heard about his deity? Please share what you know in the comments, I'd love to learn from you.
