Maracay is a city that I always remember fondly because it was part of my university life, I recently visited it to do some shopping in its dynamic downtown and passed by Bolivar Avenue.
Maracay es una ciudad que siempre recuerdo con cariño porque formó parte de mi vida universitaria, hace poco la visité para hacer unas compras en su dinámico centro y pasé por la Avenida Bolívar.
This avenue is always very busy, I had to wait for the traffic light to change so I could take some pictures without so many cars.
Esta avenida, siempre está muy transitada, tuve que esperar el cambio del semáforo para poder hacer unas fotos sin tantos vehículos.
At Bolivar Square, the most famous in the city, I stopped to take a brief tour and capture some shots. Although I have passed by here many times, curiously I never took pictures. The surroundings of the square have many architectural attractions, several buildings that add majesty to the place.
A la altura de la Plaza Bolívar, la más famosa de la ciudad, me detuve para hacer un breve recorrido y captar algunas tomas. Aunque he pasado muchas veces por aquí, curiosamente nunca hice fotos. Los alrededores de la plaza tienen muchos atractivos arquitectónicos, varias edificaciones que aportan majestuosidad al lugar.

And of course, the square itself is a beauty, an oasis of greenery and peace in the center of the capital of Aragua state. Inaugurated on December 19, 1930, on the 100th anniversary of the death of the Liberator, it is the largest Bolivar Square in Venezuela, 320 meters long by 106 meters wide.
Y claro, la plaza en sí misma es una belleza, un oasis de verdor y paz en el centro de la capital del estado Aragua. Inaugurada el 19 de diciembre de 1930, cuando se cumplieron 100 años de la muerte del Libertador, es la Plaza Bolívar más grande de Venezuela, con 320 metros de largo por 106 de ancho.
The renowned Venezuelan architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva, was the designer of this urban space that harmoniously combines nature with beautiful decorative elements. Walkways, fountains, lampposts, gazebos and many benches to sit and rest and contemplate, and of course in the center, the statue of Bolivar on his horse.

Although the avenue is full of cars at all hours, as soon as you enter this square, all those urban noises disappear, and in their place are the songs of birds.

Also, if you stop for a while and look up in the huge tree branches, you will see squirrels climbing up and down.

As I mentioned before, Bolivar Square is surrounded by historical, cultural and educational buildings.

Likewise, although it is a few blocks away, the emblematic Sindoni Tower, a modern 130-meter building inaugurated in 1999, is also incorporated in the distance into the landscape offered by the square.

The radiant sun is one of the characteristics of the city of Maracay, and returning to the protagonist of the square, his equestrian statue seems to have been placed in the place where it shines the brightest.

I approached to get a better detail of this work, made in bronze by the Italian sculptor Emilio Gariboldi, which is a replica of the statue that is in the Bolivar Square in Caracas.
Me acerqué para detallar mejor esta obra, hecha en bronce por el escultor italiano Emilio Gariboldi y que es una réplica de la estatua que está en la Plaza Bolívar de Caracas.
When you walk through this square full of trees and a variety of plants, you understand why Maracay has been known for many years as the “Garden City of Venezuela”. Perhaps many areas have lost greenery due to urban growth, but the lush nature that characterizes Aragua state is still very present in much of the city.
Cuando uno camina por esta plaza llena de árboles y variedad de plantas, entiende por qué Maracay es conocida desde hace muchos años como la "Ciudad Jardín de Venezuela". Quizás muchas áreas han perdido verdor por el crecimiento urbano, pero la exuberante naturaleza que caracteriza al estado Aragua sigue muy presente en gran parte de la ciudad.
