When a new year begins, we somehow recapitulate a little of what we did in the previous cycle and ask ourselves if our resolutions, if we had them, were achieved.
Cuando comienza un nuevo año, de alguna manera recapitulamos un poco lo que hicimos en el ciclo anterior y nos preguntamos si nuestros propósitos, si los tuvimos, fueron conseguidos.
Did we do everything we could to achieve our goals? In my case I don't usually make a written list, but I do have several projects in mind that I try to accomplish during the year, sometimes I am successful and sometimes I am not.
¿Hicimos todo lo que podíamos para lograr nuestros objetivos? En mi caso no suelo hacer una lista escrita, pero sí tengo en mente varios proyectos que busco concretar durante el año, a veces tengo éxito y otras no.
The reasons why something doesn't happen can be many, for example a not so clear focus, lack of discipline, budget, poor planning or lack of daring. This last reason was the one that came to my mind when I went out to the street a few days ago to capture the photos I show you in this post. Why? Because most of the time we don't achieve our goals because we don't dare to knock on a door.
Los motivos por los que no se da algo pueden ser muchos, por ejemplo un enfoque no tan claro, falta de disciplina, presupuesto, mala planificación o poco atrevimiento. Este último motivo fue el que vino a mi mente cuando salí a la calle hace unos días a capturar las fotos que les muestro en esta publicación. ¿Por qué? Pues porque la mayoría de las veces no logramos nuestros objetivos por no atrevernos a tocar una puerta.
They say that "knocking is not entering," but if you don't try, you'll never know if that door will open for you. So doors are a good metaphor for the possibilities that exist in life.
Dicen por ahí que “tocar no es entrar”, pero si no lo intentas, nunca sabrás si esa puerta se iba a abrir para ti. Entonces las puertas son una buena metáfora de las posibilidades que existen en la vida.
There are old, restored, new, classic, modern, colorful, gray, mysterious...
Las hay viejas, restauradas, nuevas, clásicas, modernas, coloridas, grises, misteriosas…
But we cannot be carried away by appearances, if we want to know what is behind them, we must knock on them! If we don't, everything will remain in our imagination.
Pero no podemos dejarnos llevar por las apariencias, si queremos saber qué hay detrás de ellas, ¡debemos tocarlas! Si no lo hacemos, todo quedará en nuestra imaginación.
And so it happens in life, if you don't act, everything will simply remain in your head and you will think that it is impossible to achieve what you wanted, but it is not necessarily so, as they say, it is always better to dare and fail than never having tried.
Y así pasa en la vida, si no actúas, simplemente todo quedará en tu cabeza y pensarás que es imposible lograr lo que querías, pero no necesariamente es así, como dicen por ahí, siempre es mejor atreverse y fracasar que nunca haberlo intentado.
I think I got a little philosophical at the beginning of the year, but I'm called Sofia for a reason 😄, let's knock on those doors, let's be more daring in this 2024!
