View of Bar Harbor from the top of Bar Island.
The "peak" of Bar Island is about 200 ft lol The island is a park of Acadia National Park.
Bar Island is only accessible at low tide which was before dawn the day we hiked over to the island. I was surprised this photo of the land bridge between the town and the island came out. I didn't have a tripod or for that matter headlamps for the hike 🤦
The beauty of this view is that its not just Bar Harbor but the mountains behind are Acadia National Park. Acadia National Park is the 7th most visited National Park in the US with almost 4 million visitors a year. We were happy to be there at the end of the season when the crowds were absent. We saw a few people on our hikes and had no trouble walking into restaurants and getting a table.
The tallest mountain is Cadillac (named for the explorer not the car haha). At 1530 ft it is the tallest mountain on the eastern coast of the US.
Looking a little farther east you can see the sand bars that are exposed at low tide.
