Hi friends, today I want to show you some photos I took on the eastern shore of Vasilyevsky Island. This place is called "Spit of Vasilyevsky Island". Here the Neva River divides into two branches, which carry their waters into the sea gulf. The shore slopes gently down towards the water, the pavement is paved with cobblestones. The colour of the cobblestones would blend in with the colour of the waves, were it not for the narrow strip of polished granite along the edge of the terrace.

I took all these pictures from almost the same point. I had to move half a step to the left or right and I saw a new interesting shot. One step forward and only ships and water are in the frame. One step back and there are ships, water and bicycles. Another step back - and the cyclists have taken their place inside the photo too.

It looks like some kind of performance is about to begin. In the centre of the terrace a minibus with TV equipment is positioned and the propsmen are setting up the equipment. What exactly is planned, I don't know. The cameramen are resting in folding chairs before they start work, separated from the strolling public by a fence of tripods and wires.

The Neva river is turbulent this day. The wind is quite strong, the water has risen level with the lower ground and the waves are sometimes over the edge. Usually the water is a little lower and there are a series of granite steps leading down towards the water. I love sitting on these steps, they offer a great view. But in weather like today, I have to limit myself to taking pictures. The water splashes in my face. The weather is summery and warm, but the strong wind quickly gets rid of the excess heat.

It's the very centre of the city, it's always crowded!:)
Thank you very much! ☀️

Your description of this place is so real that I have come to enormous conclusion of how beautiful the place is.

The stones or marbles am seeing there, are they used in designing public or private road?

Granite is used to line the embankments and diabase is used to pave some of the alleys.
Thank you very much!
