Fort Phoenix is more than the Cannons and Hurricane barrier

I have shared a few posts in Fort Phoenix State Park, in Fairhaven before, but I have generally focused on the remnants of the fort or sunsets from there, but the park, although one of the smaller State parks in MA has a lot more to offer,
Such as a nice beach which I shall start this post with

But it also has a basketball court, and I am pretty sure tennis courts, but I do not seem to have taken any photos of the Tennis courts

More of the fall colors, and to show it has a nice area to walk, including to walk around or by this big rock formation

to get to this nice big open field there was a Dad and his son throwing frisbee's in the field the afternoon I was there.
Yes this was one of my rare during the day walks, most of my walks are early morning

back down by the beach, I love seeing these rock walls, tide breaker thingies

And here I am on the Hurricane barrier wall, and you may wonder why when I said I was going to focus on other things in the park, well that's for two reasons.
!, because I had these photo edited and if I didnt share it in this post now sure if I ever would fit it into another post

Cool.. Lots of stuff to do around that park and looks like they keep it well kept too. Anything cool ever wash up on those beaches? I'm not talking bodies either.. lol.. unfortunately I bet that is always a possibility. Along the ocean here, all sorts of weird things wash up. I always seem to find bits of old military shells and the occasional sharks tooth.

I love those parks that have been built out to have a number of amenities for people to enjoy. Lums Pond State Park near me has canoeing, tennis, volleyball, and so on and so forth, as well as places to walk, picnic, and even trail ride. It's a great place. No beach, though, which would be awesome.

Nice shots! It looks like a really beautiful park. I can just imagine how many kids and families have scrambled up the rock and stood on top of it like they had just climbed Mount Everest! I love playing catch with the Frisbee. Probably one of my favorite summer activities. Fun fact, did you notice your browser flag you for not capitalizing the word Frisbee? That's because Frisbee is a registered trademark of the Wham-o corporation so I am guessing it is considered a proper noun. Anyway. Dumb facts I know....

I havent thrown a frisbee for years, infact I think I have only tried once or twice, i see posts about Frisbee golf that seems ot be gettign very popular in some places

Yeah, Disc Golf is awesome. It has been around for quite some time, but in the past decade or so it has really picked up. I used to play quite a bit in the summer. Now it is only occasionally that I get out, but I still have my discs and I take them with me whenever we go camping just in case there is a course nearby.

Yeah, it is a ton of fun. Super cheap to get started too and it generally takes less time to play than 18 holes of real golf. Many people have multiple discs, but you really only need a putter and a mid-range. You could even go with just a mid-range if you wanted. Buying a disc and getting out to throw it (even in the back yard) is a great way to start and get familiar with how it flies.

Damn that’s a beautiful place indeed! I love the space that it’s got around it. Reminds me of the state park in Rye New Hampshire that’s got all that fun stuff! It’s also got pay to park which isn’t as fun lol. We might explore down that way this coming spring and early summer as a way to see some of the areas south of us instead of always north!

That is a really nice shot of Palmers Lighthouse! I am so used to seeing the early morning shots, this was a change for you. I love when you throw me a curveball. The curvature of the shoreline is one of my favorite views when I look at shorelines, it lengthens the lines (for me)

Yes, these images are quite different from usual, but nevertheless they are beautiful as always. I like the curve that the Hurricane barrier wall makes and the Palmers Island Lighthouse looks great in daylight too.
