Hear no Evil
For this post, I am sharing some shots of a boat I saw at the docks one morning and some thoughts about the saying that Hear no Evil comes from
Starting with a shot of the bow of the boat ( I don't know a lot of nautical terms but I do know the front of a boat is the bow)

In this shot you see clearly the Hear No Evil, and you can see that perhaps previously this fishing boat was called the Capt B IV
It is a fishing trawler that was built in 1987
Her length overall (LOA) is 27.44 meters and her width is 7.32 meters.
But along with the photos I was thinking about the saying
In most of the West, the proverb see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil means to turn a blind eye to something that is legally or morally wrong.
OK before I say anymore this is just going to be my thoughts and not any political opinions on one party or another
And these days that seems to be something people either do and ignore things they see, or go the totally opposite way and are always looking for issues with anything people with different opinions to their own may say, MY thinking is perhaps the ideal would be some middle ground between the two.
But enough on that how did the saying originate
There are mixed opinions of how this saying first came to light, one popular one is that it was first seen back in the 17th Century on a carving over a door of the famous Tōshō-gū shrine in Nikkō, Japan.
The three wise monkeys embodying the proverbial principle "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". The three monkeys are
Mizaru, who sees no evil, covering his eyes
Kikazaru, who hears no evil, covering his ears, and
Iwazaru, who speaks no evil, covering his mouth.
Sometimes there is a fourth monkey depicted, Sezaru, who symbolizes the principle of "do no evil"
Now enough on the saying lets get back to the boat
A shot at the back of the boat which I believe is the Stern of the name of the boat and the flag

This next shot shows the size of the boat, working on these boats is hard and dangerous work, in fact this boat in 2015 lost a fisherman overboard who sadly was not recovered in time.
and I have seen memorial candles by one of the piers a couple of times this year, which as I understand it are put there after there is fatalities at sea one one of the fishing boats
May they all rest in Peace

I gather this on the boat is some sort of winch to pull in the nets

And speaking of nets, this is on another boat which was docked near to the Hear no evil ship
