Icy Pond in Brooklawn Park

The other day while my wife had an appointment I was running around doing a few things and when I had them all done I had some time to fill it before picking her up so took a quick visit to Brooklawn Park.
I have done a a couple of posts of visits to this park including this post of this same area with fall colors

It sure was different the other day not much colors and lots of ice on the pond

I am guessing this branch or tree got knocked over into the pond in one of the recent storms

Brooklawn park is a 85 Acre multi-use complex with baseball and softball fields, basketball and tennis courts, a skate park, playground, splash-pad, and nature trails.

A prominent New Bedford Quaker, Daniel Ricketson built a country estate in what is now Brooklawn Park, in an effort to remove himself from the bustle of the city’s center,. Literary greats, such as Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson, often visited Ricketson at his estate.
This land became a city park at the end of the 19th century.

I loved the subtle reflection on the ice covered pond

I don't know if this little hoses on the island in the pond had any historical significance I just think its pretty cool, in the background you can see a kids playground and a couple of benches if unlike me who likes to keep moving you want to just sit and relax in the park, but those probably get more use in the summer months

And this is away from the pond, but this tree looks so bare especially compared to its glorious warm colors in fall

That looks like a really cool place. Also looks like you got some warmer temps to melt away some of your snow! Maybe that small house is supposed to be a replica of the one that the guy built there? Who knows I guess. It is pretty cool either way!

We did get some more snow just a day after I took this walk, but were having a couple of days in the mid 50s so most of the snow is gone again

Cute little pond @tattoodjay I like the little house in the middle. Looks like it’s for ducks and it resembles an old architecture… probably from the area. Maybe even a replica from a “famous” house.

I think you could be right it may be a replica of the original house there, but now its a house for the ducks ;)

Maybe you find out one day 😉😁

Maybe I will :)

I love the little island in the middle, with the little house! The fisherman in me is wondering how deep the water is, and if there's any fish swimming around!

The circular pattern of the ice makes a very nice border around the main subject!

Thanks for your feedback I have been there in summer but have not seen any sign of fish in this pond

I'd love to see the images but the internet connection was bad. All I could was to read, even so, I know it's always pretty those images.

By the way what a nice park, a lot of place to play games there. Yes, he's a great man for building that kind of country.

Sorry they didnt l will check what size I am exporting them as

OH my gosh is that the duck house! That miniature building, based on it's local and ramp, looks like a duck house. I've dreams of, when I get ducks, to have a cute 'house shape' home for them. I want to put ours on the beach in the tall grass, so they can be locked up at night...this is of course a dream as I've not ducks...yet.

Wonderful shots today @tattoodjay and looks a good day to be out and about when you got these shot. Today it's going to be so warm, in the 50's, tho yesterday I was snapping shots on our shore in the 7 dedree weather, good shots, but cold hands haha. I still have to post those.

Oh, I asked someone else, but still waiting on answer, how do you make it so you can click on an image to see a larger version of it? I see others do this as well and I've not a clue how to do it.

Yes I think it is a ducks house and a cool one those ducks live in style lOL

Maybe one day you will have ducks and a house of your own

Its a nice day today but so windy I went to go for a walk earlier but it was so gusty it just wasn't fun mayby later on I will get out for a walk

as for the clickable link heres how I do it

at a glance I see the snow has melted, is that true...????

At the time I took the photos a lot of the snow was gone then we hit some more but now a couple of warm days and most of it is gone again

Nice pictures they are cool.. so you mean those trees grew in between the pond

There is a little island in the middle of the pond

Ohhhh.. it makes the pond beautiful

I think so as well

Yeah. How have you been

As always amazing shots!

Thanks kindly your support is appreciated

Have a great day

The one near Grandmas Donuts?

It is a replica of the Ricketson mansion that stood in the park at one time. It was always called the Duck House. :)

Spring will be here soon and transform this entire park. I love that time of year!

Yes that’s the one but grandma’s donuts is closed has been since we moved here
I thought it would be a replica

I love the icy little pond with the trees on the island and the old trees around, although many of the branches are broken. Even though it's winter one can see that it must be a beautiful park in the warmer months.

Have a great day

It's very beautiful that the pool has a tree in the middle, it feels like there is a beautiful island in it.

Exactly 👍🙂👍

Ice started melting here, spring is nearby and I can feel the warmth of the atmosphere. These photos are really beautiful, charming, and soothing...

Thanks so much
Most of the ice has melt here as well

How beautifully clear the tree is reflected in it - perfect for taking photos! :)
