Knowles reserve, details

This post is a follow on from my Wednesday Walk post yesterday, along the same trails in the Knowles reserve, yesterday I mainly focused on the trails since it was my walk post, today I will focus on some details that caught my eye beside the trails

Starting with the greenery both plants and moss on and beside these rocks near a little stream

Such beautiful greens all around this rock wall, a lot of the trails have rock walls in this area, they are in various conditions so me fallen and decayed and some still standing strong, not sure why but I do love seeing these rock walls, perhaps I feel its looking back in time when everything was so much simpler.

Sure technology does make things easier in a lot of ways, easier to find your way around with a GPS, not needing to look at Maps, can search anything even while walking along a trail, which I did on this walk, I wasn't sure which way I should turn when I came to an intersection on the trail, google maps came to the rescue to let me know which way I should turn to be heading back to where I had parked the car.
But then again, did doing that take away a bit from a sense of adventure just going with your gut instinct and seeing where you end up.
generally when walking a trail I wont look at my phone, it takes away from the feeling of being away from it all, but I was running short on time and had to get out and on my way home the quickest possible way.

Does technology make life better these days?

What do you think?

For me I would say yes initially, being able to keep in contact with family and friends so much easier than back in the day when there was no internet and phone calls weren't so cheap.
Having so much info at ones fingertips is of course handy, and I am searching every few days looking for new trails and sights around the area to explore.

But then on the other side, I see the younger generation who almost have a meltdown being somewhere with no internet, the information available is a double edge sword, sure a google search is easier than going to the library to find books and do research, but with the growth of social media platforms there is not only so much information but also so much disinformation, and I see so many who just read articles, or perhaps more correctly read the headline of an article that seems to agree with what they would like to believe and share it and in some cases not realizing the article actually contradicts the headline.

So I think used well technology can be great, but I feel so many have come so reliant on it, I feel some things have been fading away in generations younger than me, the sense of adventure of exploring with no idea what one will see, common sense to work out how to do something by yourself without researching step by step instructions, again especially in the younger generation these days, no interest in playing outdoors as we did as kids, would rather stay inside and be on a computer or mobile device

OK enough of that back to the trail

On this trail I came across the remains of some building, I think it may have been a barn from looking at the trail map but not 100% sure

I really like the very strong green colors on your pictures..Well done!😀

Thanks after rain earlier that morning the greens were really shining

Thanks for sharing more of Knowles Reserve. Looks like interesting area. Always fun to check out old rock walls and foundations and imagine what was there in the past. Technology is definitely a double edged sword. The younger generation is always looking for a new experience. Supposedly its all about paying for an experience not for accumulating material things. Well the best experiences are out there in the real world.

And thanks for your visit,
your last line

I totally agree :)

Wow this is so awesome you took macro photos :)

I should take my macro lens with me when I do these walks, this was with a zoom lens but i will go back with my macro lens

I'm interested in your opinion, I also do the same.

That looks like a fun area to explore :) It's a shame that you had to rush on your first time out there!

We are in dangerous territory with so much reliance on technology. It could lead to some really bad situations for us as a species...

Good morning 👋🏻
Yes… you are right. Technology is good in many ways in certain times. But the younger generations will never have what we had. Playing outside until the lights came on. Building huts… going on adventure. They sit inside behind computers and play games. It is such a shift.
I do love to go somewhere and just explore, see where we end up.
If lost, I know I have maps with me to help. But never happened so far… I ended up back, sometimes with a detour. But the things you see when doing so 😁 love it. Just being in the moment.

The trail is so pretty all in greens @tattoodjay and you found some cool looking ruins, and a car hahaha yep… didn’t expect that either.
The stone walls are looking like far times back.beautiful photographs also the close up of the plants.
Have a great day today 👋🏻☀️

or I think the imagination we had, playing outdoors we would find a couple of sticks, and boom it was a sword, or a mast of a ship or who knows what our imaginations could come up with anything
todays kids if they want something its online or at the store, heaven forbid they could use their imagination and make it themselves LOL

getting lost I see as an adventure, and often don't consider it as being lost but finding a new route and new adventures, and often its at those times you come across something so cool that otherwise you would never have seen

it truly is such a beautiful and refreshing trail I loved this walk

I soooo know hahaha 🤣 we invented so much… via imagination 🤩🤩🤩

Exactly my thought too.
And these are all close to you, lucky you 😁 it shows you loved this walk. You went into more details 😉

on this walk there was so much to see :)

I really love the details on this photo. Did you do a crop in on this photo or is it the extension tube or reverse lens method?

thanks I was quite happy with how it came out, a very small crop on this photo and no extension tubes, I was using a lens that went out to 240MM and was able to zoom right in on it

wow 😱 I really thought the lens was converted into a macro lens, with that long focal length and those camera setting the photo turn out sharp with all those details. !LUV

@tattoodjay, @tawadak24(1/1) sent you LUV. wallet | market | tools | discord | community | daily

Thanks I was pretty happy with that shot :)

You are very much welcome my friend :DD

Beautiful shots! Technology definitely needs to be used properly. I know sometimes when my wife and I are camping we are in areas where there is no signal. It gets frustrating because we rely on the phone to give us directions or tell us what the weather is going do. Important things when you are in an unfamiliar place. Many people do abuse their phone privileges though.

Ohh yes I totally agree
I guess as with anything moderation Is a good thing

These mosses and greens are very beautiful. I think technology is very complex in life. As if life is paralyzed

Thanks
And yes so true

How are you dear friend @tattoodjay good day
What a beautiful place you have visited
I love the moss and vegetation on the stones.
It's amazing to see that auto part inside the reserve
have a nice day

Thanks for your visit
Yes that car was the last thing I expected to come across

This is truly my kind of photography! I love the stone walls, as you well know. They are just part of the New England charm and even though many other parts of the country use stone walls for division of property and cleaning out fields, they look different than the ones lucky enough to be from New England. :)

The moss and ferns always and forever will be a delight to see and photograph. The ferns you didn't think are a great shot- exactly the kind I love! Soft and feathery, it creates such a beautiful feeling, not in the details of the normal shot, but, as a whole, it is stunning. Your close-ups are brilliant, you don't post many, but, you have got the touch.

I am not sure that is a barn unless it is a basement barn (they are usually built into a hill so that on both levels the animals can walk in. The basement level is usually all stone. (for strength I imagine) In Europe, there were a lot of houses built with a barn on the bottom and a house on top, a house barn. I almost rented one to live in, I loved how economical it really is. The animals' warmth keeps the flooring of your house warm.

I have to agree with you on technology. It is a great tool and I use it on a daily basis. I also have days I use none (when I go to the shore, I have no phone, no tv, no internet, and happily so) and I am fine with that too. I understand the need to run the world with it, but, I also shudder to think what happens when we have a glitch. Suddenly, our world is dark. :( Have you ever seen a department store panic with no internet? No sales. Boom. The day is done. Try giving a cashier REAL MONEY to pay for something and give the extra change so you get full dollars back. They already put in the amount and now they give you the blank stare of not knowing how to make change. Really? Yes, really! I like hiking without Google maps, I actually never use it then. I would if I needed it, but, like you, the real adventure is finding the way or discovering something totally unexpected. I used to take my kids to the Canadian border where our summer house used to be. No internet, no tv and no Google. They loved it and to this day, still talk about our good times. Technology is great, but, balance is better. If you can achieve balance, you have the best of both worlds, in my humble opinion.

Walking these trails reminds me so much of hikes back in NZ, with all the moss and ferns and being at one with nature, not so many of the rock walls back there though

thats very good point about that building, most likely not a barn I must do some more research

Ohh yeah these days when any store loosing internet, they may as well close up shop sometimes, they just cannot do anything

Ohh yeah were old school and know what change we should be getting but if the tellers have to work it out without a terminal telling them what the change should be so often you will see the wheels turning but they are just spinning no way can they calculate it in their head, its horrible really

It really is. I have had to actually tell them what change I am supposed to be get back and instead of rechecking my math, they give it to me.

LOL its easier to trust those of us who can do it in our head than try to do it themselves lOL

I'm liking it, @tattoodjay ! Just beautiful!
Especially the first shot!

Thanks so Much, I haven't visited your post, didnt have time yesterday but will get to it soon
