Lifeguard towers
When I go for morning walks at the beach if there are life guard towers I seem not to be able to resist taking photos of them, perhaps because for one season I did some volunteer Life guard shifts, but lets first share a photo
This one is on For Tabor Beach here in New Bedford

Its funny well to me anyway, how I got into being a Lifeguard, I used to often cycle to the beach, swim quite a distance to the beach and then do a 5 Mile run before cycling home each morning, I used to head there early and often I was the only one there, one morning, as I started my swim I saw a group swimming maybe 500 Meters in front of me, as Swam I caught up to them and swam out and around them, kept on my normal swim and run loop, as I got back to my bike one of the group approached me, he ran the Life Guards on the beach and they were on a training swim, and was impressed with my swimming both speed and distance and convinced me to join as a lifeguard for a season, had some basic training and was good to do shifts, I did quite a few shifts that season, had to assist a few swimmers who got caught in rip tides, but nothing dramatic or impressive.
actually for me it was kind of good being there incase something happened to be able to help, but the sitting or more for me standing by the tower for a few hours, drove me nuts back then well still now to a degree I was hyper and hated standing still, I liked to keep moving, so I only did the one season semi full time on weekends and evenings, but then gave it up other than if they were short on guards for duty and called me to cover.
OK enough about that back to the lifeguard towers/stands, this next shot is the same one as the first from a different angle
