Market Friday back to NYC

A post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Hive, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
This is the one tag and challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.

For this weeks post, I had to dig in my archives, no real excuse for that I have bene out taking photos here and there a fair bit over the last week, but till I was preparing this post did I realize I had not got any shots that I could somehow swing into a Market Friday post.

In fact I did remember and went to check out a farmers market here in New Bedford, but was a bit disappointed with it, but will share the one shot I took there at the end of this post

Starting with this shot of one of the many Entrances to the subway in NYC, probably the way you will go to get to any shop or market in NYC unless it is walking distance.
And what is walking distance, I must admit for me when I worked in NYC I seldom took the subway, often in the morning before heading to the office I would walk 30, 40 or 50 blocks exploring the streets the only time I would take a subway was if my walk took me to a long way from the office and I was in a rush to get to work on time

And here is the Farmers Market I did go to recently, only this one stall, and not sure if I got there late even this stall had very little produce remaining so this is the only shot I took

Yes!!! It is always fun when you bring us back to the city! I loved clicking over to your post to see what you were up to for the day. Ah, yes! The good old days. Still so glad you blitzed before Covid.

Admittedly, I have been to a couple of those little street vendors. My mom used to say that I shouldn't be so proud of it. I try not to be!

You are probably the only person I know of that has covered the city, inch by inch. Rain or shine, winter, summer, and everything in between. We have free paper usually at the Metro bus stops and the Slug lines and sprinkled downtown. It was always worth a read. :) Or not, but, it was free! As for the farmer's market? If it was afternoon, it might be the end of the day but before that, it might have been predicting rain. That seems unusually small.

I love that you take us along! It is always fun and certainly very interesting! We appreciate it!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

Good Morning

as for the street vendors when I used to travel a lot more all over the world people used to stay stay away from street vendors, but did I listen no way I liked to try it all, luckily I had a strong constitution back then and never had issues

Funnily enough the only time I got a variant of Delhi Belly was when I moved to NYC, my stomach had problems for the first week here, and as one colleague said to me, its because i had been eating all the crazy risky street food in my travels it was in shock at being given good food LOL

OHh yeah when I first got to NYC and trying to adjust to having weekend off I was lost with what to do with myself, so I picked up a subway map and set a goal to walk past every subway station in the city and ticked them off when I did complete them all I decided why not keep going and walk every street in the city and started shading in the areas I covered, wish I had kept that map, when I finish it looked quite colorful as I had a set of highlighers with 7 colors and used a different color depending onthe day of the week I went on the walk

when I finished that I

Wait!! You didnt finish the rest of the story, JJ!! @tattoodjay

Oops I just meant to say when I finished that I just kept walking the city

Same like you this week I also digged up in my archive.
By the way beautiful farmer's market.

👍🙂👍

I always enjoy shots of NYC. Too bad about the local farmers market. I think farmers markets have proliferated so much that some of them struggle to gain traction. Too many options out there. We tend to try and go to farm stands on the local farms when we can. Our local farmers market is unfortunately nothing special.

I love street based or designed farmers markets. When they set up I'm always on the look out for those I've bought from before. For me I love sweet corn 🌽 and one particular farmer has the best crops for this. It's about harvest time soon too 😋
