Market Friday New Bedford Regional Airport

A post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Hive, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
This is the one tag and challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.

For this weeks post, I am sharing a few photos I took at out little Airport here in New Bedford MA which is municipality owned and open for public use.

It has a couple of airlines which fly to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket and I see often private planes flying in and out of it

Starting with a shot of the airport building and control tower

I did plan to take some photos inside the airport, but was told I couldn't take photos with my camera in side the airport, and then they also didn't want me to put my camera in my bag and take photos with my cell phone because I was carrying a camera.

I just agreed and didn't argue the point but I find it amusing or perhaps annoying and illogical that they have no problem with people taking photos with a cell phone with how good cell phone cameras are these days, but not with a camera.

I had that issue a few times in NYC, and was told its because its a security risk, now correct me if I am wrong, but if a person of perhaps questionable motivation wants to take photos of a location and not be noticed are they going to use a big camera, or take sneaky photos with their phone which on one seems to find a problem?

Or to put is shortly I couldn't take any photos in the airport so here are some more outside the airport,
A small playground and a few aircraft

So cool! How I love to be here and all the views were so pleasing to my eyes. Surely I would take a lot of selfies in the background if happened by chance my feet lead me here. Heheh. Happy Market Friday, Sir and take care.

The selfie idea is a good one I just hate taken photos of myself LOL

hello dear friend @tattoodjay good morning
I love this place, and despite being a small airport, it provides a great service to the community.
A similar situation happened to me here in Argentina, they didn't allow us to take pictures with our Nikon camera, but they did let us do it with my wife's phone, to be honest, I don't see any sense in the situation, according to what they told us it was an order from the director
Beautiful images, I appreciate that you let us know

Hahaha that’s crazy, phone photos they are ok with but camera ones not.
That’s a shame you couldn’t take any photos.
Great captures of the outside and the little planes.
Have a wonderful Friday 👋🏻😊

yeah I can understand the need for security measures but come on us some common sense lOL

Indeed… hahaha common sense sometimes is hard to find !LOL

What do you call a corrupted IPhone?
A bad apple.

ENTER @WIN.HIVE'S DAILY DRAW AND WIN HIVE!

indeed I feel its far from common these days

Yes, me too…

Nice pics. Too bad you couldn't get inside with camera. Security is an illusion lol Its almost random sometimes what is permitted and what isn't. Has taking off our shoes to clear security at airports really made us safer? But I digress... I haven't flown on a small plane in years. But its always adds to the adventure. Fun post.

It's really annoying and illogical, but there's no point in arguing in such situations, it's better to save your nerves. Maybe they are afraid of professional photo shoots with a large number of participants? Such photo shoots could interfere with airport operations. But in any case, it's an unpleasant incident.
I really liked those little planes - they look so lovely!

Airports got really tricky after 9 11. My dad use to take shots so he could redesign them in his flight simulator software. After the terror attacks though, he got chased off more than once.

Ohh yes for sure and I do understand the need for security measures and am fine with them when they make sense

but so many times in NYC I got told I could not take photos with my camera, while tourists were taking photos with their cell phones and that was fine

now if I was a suspect character and wanted to take photos for a suspicious reason why would I make it obvious with a bug camera lOL

Yeah, I got you.

What are airports these days but markets. It is amazing the number of stores and restaurants in most airports. Your post reminded me of the show Wings. Do you remember that one?

Ohh yes I do remember that show

I agree with you. It doesn't make sense to have no problem with people taking photos with a cell phone but you're not allowed to use a camera. And as you say, you can be way more sneaky with a cell phone...

Anyhow, you still managed to get some beautiful photos, even if you couldn't take any inside.

👍🙂👍

My mom was visiting me right after 9/11 - As I was living on a military base, you can imagine the security involved with merely a month passing by. Sending her home, a month later, I had my cell phone out while she was going through the last security checkpoint in my view and I was almost tackled to the floor by security! No kidding! NO CELLPHONES! I am not sure how I missed that message. That was the first time and since then, I have become more aware. :)

Cell phones are better than a lot of cameras that people used to use. I can blow up the fine details of the fur on an animal or a blemish on a face. So, their argument loses credence with me, but, I guess they are choosing their arguments, plus. I know that security is ramped up and... and...and. I know I can take pictures inside the terminal at some airports, and others not so much. I find the regional airports generally better, but, remember, you probably have some serious money flying out of there over to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Who knows, right? I have to agree with you on the phones/cameras though.

I have become enamored with the regional airports, long before Covid, there is just a (usually) friendlier attitude that radiates off them. You always get great seating on their planes and the flight attendants are gracious.

New Bedford Regional is a nice airport, with pretty surroundings. It would make a nice jump-off for a little trip~ :) I like to watch the traffic from them on an odd day when I find myself near one. Even the touch-and-go is fun to watch. I truly enjoyed coming here with you! I want to thank you for taking us all along! Thank you always for your support~ Have a great weekend~

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

#MarketFriday loves you!

Ohh glad you were not tackled down by security, and with my travels and world events I fully understand and accept the need for it, but having some security training it just frustrates me when it is done wrong or with a lack of common sense, or maybe I am just getting old and grumpy LOL

as I often say common sense just is not that common these days
