New Bedfords Historic District downtown
Good Morning and have a great day
Today I will share a few shots in the Historic District downtown here in New Bedford
One thing i used to love seeign in nYC was the cobblestone streets in some areas, and I when we moved here to New Bedford when I retired thought that was somethign I would not see it, but when I did my first visit to the Historic district downtown here in New Bedford I was pleaseantly surprised to find they had them here.
I do like visiting any historic area, but for me its a bonus when they have cobble stone streets
now anyone who is an expert on cobbe stone streets with know from the shape of these ones they are strictly speaking Begian blocks, but to me I still think of thme as cobblestones
Lets start with this shot looking up this alley beside the Roase alley Restaurant/bar

and looking up another street inthe area, that Mural is a trbute tot he Blues Musicians from the area, hard to see in the early mrning light but i recently shared a daylight shot of it in a post
the lamps on these streets to me also add to the historic feel.
New Bedford has a few historic districts, but this area is offically called the New Bedford Historic district, and has the cobblestone streets so is my favorite to visit

The Mariners Home building beside the Seamens Bethel church
For those who have read the Novel MOby Dick this is the church referred to in it.
I read it when I was a tennager, never thinking one day I would be living where parts of the story were based
