Rock walls

Good Morning Everyone have a great day

recently I did a post of some rocks I have seen on some of the trails and walks I have taken around the area here, and mentioned that in New England there are many rock walls, and that's what I will focus on in this post.

Not far from my house is an open garden and small Public gardens namely Haskell Gardens, which used t be a commercial Nursery and is now managed as an open garden for the public.

Depending on the time of year they have a nice array of flowers around the gardens, but they also have this cool Rock wall and that little structure which I always find quite cool and check out when I visit there.

I forget where exactly this one was, this rock wall is near the car park of one of the nature trails here.

IN the area around me we are lucky to have many nature trails
and on another trail here I came across this short rock wall partially overgrown by greenery

Another rock fall surrounded by greenery and ferns, the rock wall not so much but the ferns remind me of hiking back in NZ when I was growing up, New Zealand is so green and has an abundance of ferns.

And of course how can I now share a shot of a part of the Hurricane Barrier wall, the biggest Rock wall in the area, with a photographer taking a photo of the Palmers lighthouse.

Those rock block like do beautiful. I love them

There is something about rock walls that is special. Maybe it is imagining the labour of having to place each of them so skillfully they would stand and not fall. Maybe it is how they stand like a sign of the past, defiantly weathering the elements to remain. Maybe it is just the reminder lessons learned marked by an old foundation that is nothing more.

I think photography and #wednesdaywalk is like a superpower for being active, living in the moment and connecting with others. Some of the most important things in life.

I think the something about rock walls could well be all the things you said :)

What a fantastic rock wall! The Haskell Gardens is unique in that way, because truthfully, I haven't encountered anything quite this extensive before.
That Hurricane Barrier is so cool!!!
Good morning, @tattoodjay !

Thanks I do love Rock walls and yes the Hurrican barrier is the most impressive one i have ever seen

If only more places would use natural building materials, the world would have a lot more variety :) ... Thanks for sharing those 🙌

OHh yes I totally agree

Really fascinating. Someone must have gathered the stones at some point and built a wall. How long has this stone wall existed? Really impressive.I have also collected something, namely shells and have also created something from it. Check out my blog.

Thank you for your support. Many greetings @missagora

I've heard that rock wall building is far more difficult than it appears to be and in Scotland, Ireland and Wales it's still considered a highly praised skill. Your photos are gorgeous, I love the really lush green areas.

There is just something about rock walls that makes pictures look like they come from a movie shot, its funny how tv embed imagines in our brain that can change how we see nature

yes I know exactly what you mean

Nice wide selection of rock walls. I read that rock walls were early New Englanders attempts at organizing and conquering nature. They felt that spiritually you fought against your base or savage thoughts and impulses. It was necessary to organize and control your thoughts. Rock walls organized and controlled nature.

thanks and thats an interesting take on them

These are AMAZING! the second to last photo of the hurricane barrier wall has such varied texture, a truly incredible shot 🤩

Rock walls always have cool foliage and fungus around them, it's pretty awesome that you decided to highlight that! The fern one, yessss.

Thanks for sharing. 😁

Thanks Kindly such kind feedback is truly appreciated

have a great day

Beautiful stone wall, and fence.
In our region, this is not seen, only made of bricks.
But in the southern regions, all the walls and fences there are made of stones.
