some more shots from the zoo

Good Morning, today I will share a few shots from a recent visit to Buttonwood Park zoo

The Buttonwood Park Zoo, located in New Bedford, Massachusetts, is a zoo located in the center of Buttonwood Park. Opened in 1894, it is the third-oldest zoo in New England and the 12th-oldest zoo in the United States. Located on a 7 acres (2.8 ha) campus, the zoo is owned and operated by the City of New Bedford, with the support of the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society. It is located on part of the Buttonwood Park Historic District, and federally designated on the National Register of Historic Places.

The zoo is home to more 250 different animals made up of more than 80 different species of animals, including many that are rare and endangered

Starting with a bison

This visit was around mid day and it was a hot day the bison seemed to be feeling the heat, the first shot of one sitting chilling and this next shot of one laying down and chilling and having a sand bath

I do believe this is a hawk, but I could be wrtong feel free to correct me if I have got it wrong, it had caught a rabbit I think

Next up a wolf, the enclosures are not that big and with the fences around them its not always easy to get shots of them, and I still do plan to visit the Zoo in providence which is bigger, I still enjoy this local zoo and since I have a yearly membership I can pop there anytime I want

and to finish off this little train, on the day I took this there wasnt to many at the zoo so I could get a shot of it without any children in view, on the visit before that the zoo was busy and lots of kids were enjoying riding on the train

Have a beautiful weekend

Nice shots from the zoo 👍 Love the colors on the train in that last shot 😍 so bright!

Haha awesome trip to the zoo!

I am always torn when visiting the zoo as I am fascinated by the animals but kinda feel bad to be among the mass of humanity ogling them for entertainment. I mainly visit for the kids so they can make a more direct connection with the (canned) nature and hopefully build a love for wildlife.

That bison sure looks like he is having a nice lounge too!

Great shots.

Nice shots! That hawk was happy with a whole rabbit for a meal. The wolves are always cool to see, I've never seen them in the wild, just coyotes. At least they reintroduced wolves back into the wild here in the US, now I hope they finally do the same for the jaguar. The last one was killed at the Grand Canyon in the 1940's, they used to most everywhere

Very cool zoo, I love seeing Bison. They are very cool animals when at a distance. Up close and personal no so much! lol

When I come home from work late in the evening, I look like the one in the 2nd photo. That kind of sleep wakes me up XD
