Some Nice water Craft in the marinas
For this mornings post I will share a few shots of Boats in the Marinas on Popes Island here in New Bedford

As I understand it this first pier is for boaters who want to dine in their restaurant and has no charge for docking there its a first come first serve kind of parking spot
Next up we have some boats in one of the marinas on Popes Island at sunrise, some real nice water craft docked here at the time I took this photo, Most of these docks are now empty as most of the pleasure boats have been taken out of the water for the winter months

I always remember a couple of sayings a couple of the friends I knew who had boats would often say Namely
"Boats are holes in the water, into which you throw money"
and
“the happiest day of a boat owner’s life is the day they buy the boat and the day they sell it.”
Now I am sure there is some truth to both of these sayings, but also the same people still had their boats and spent time out on the water fishing or sailing and clearly also had many happy days out on the water.
But i am sure the costs of maintenance add up quickly, not to mention dock fees which I imagine in some places must be crazy high, I know the Popes Marina where some of these shots were take and claim to be a very affordable marina charge a few of $90 per foot with a minimum of 30 foot fee for seasonal rental of a spot on their piers for some I guess thats a lot for others not to bad at all, its all a matter of perspective
Have you ever thought about buying a boat?
Personally I have never thought about it myself, partly because I am happy walking by the water myself, partly because my wife would never get on it as she has a fear of being out on the water, and partly because I guess I have never had enough money to but one LOL
But I have given thought on my morning walks by the piers as to if I was to ever get a boat which type would it be, now in my younger days I would probably have said a speed boat to go racing across the water and to get to where I wanted to be out on the water as quick as possible.
But these days I see things differently I think if I was ever to consider buying a boat or even renting one on some vacation I would want a sail boat, the peace and calm I imagine it must be on a yacht sailing on a nice day must be such a special feeling.
So a second question
If you were (or have) bought a boat what type would you want?

Boats of course come in all sizes and styles, like these two, the yellow one is eye catching the the white one looks quite plush
