Still trying for good shots of the Osprey and also a couple of shots of a Heron

I am still trying to get some shot sof the osprey that I am really happy with, have been to a coupleof spots where they have nests, but to be honest although I think these shots are OK enough to share there not what I want to get so I will keep on trying.

In the meantime here are some recent shots of the Osprey by the Harbor Walk here in New Bedford, and on the day I took these there was a heron nearby as well so including a couple of shots of it.

While I was there one of the Osprey took off for a flight, I didn't have any success getting shots of it in flight, but it was a good learning experience to realize I have to try some different settings when it is flight, including using an even faster shutter speed to freeze it in flight.

But i did catch it as it was about to land back on the nest

And while I was there as I said I spotted a heron, first in a little canal on the other side of the harbor walk and here is a shot of it there.

It did later fly over to the sea front, but I missed that as the Osprey was also flying at the time.

Here is another shot of the Osprey coming in to land on the nest, if I had used an even faster shutter speed I would have got it more clear and without any motion blur

You will probably have baby osprey photos soon 🙂 Nice reflection on the standing heron photo. We have a couple of osprey nest around here in public wildlife areas. Now, I am motivated to go check them out.

You've tried hard it seems, although you have some problems when trying to capture it when it floats in the air.

It's very difficult to take moving pictures, especially for wild birds. If we get too close, it will move away and we will miss the opportunity.

But so far, the pictures you share here look like the results of a professional, I suspect it's just your luck. It is a bonus for your effort and hard work.

There is an oddity that I noticed that there are many birds that build nests not in the trees.

Many corners of buildings or places other than trees are used as their residence. I think they have adapted to the conditions of less and less trees. Unlike at my place, they can always be found in the trees.

Mostly here the nest are in trees as there are plenty of trees here, the Osprey nests are built so they have a safe spot out on the water and away from people I think

5 years this has been happening to me, it started here, around people that are still here. Homeland security has done nothing at all, they are not here to protect us. Those things are pretty aggressive looking. I guess I didn't realize they had talons and stuff like that. I am going to have to read more about them now. Awesome shots. I have zero doubt you will grab a couple that you are happy with very soon!

Nice shots, keep at it birds in flight are some of the hardest things to capture but well worth it when you get something sharp and crisp.

I hope so, I went to see them today as I was driving up to park he flew overhead with a fish, and then it sat in the nest the whole time i was there, timing is everything LOL

it's so impossible for me, to get that tool. You are so amazing, I really like photography but I don't have a good tool, the only thing I always use is the smartphone camera, that's very grateful for me

I took a bunch of photos of birds today, I looked through them and did a quick edit of 4, and to be honest the Osprey was my least favorite of the four

!invest_vote, now I find that interesting, it is an investment in your future when you vote in an election, even if your candidate doesnt wind at least your expressing your preference, but Listening to politicians makes on need a !BEER then one gets hungry for !PIZZA

I was using a Sony 200-600 lens for these shots, I bought it last year but havent used it much yet, trying to get more use out of it this spring summer and birding is new to me
