Hello everyone in the community. Its been a very long time since my last post here. How are you guys? I hope that all of you are doing great.
Today I want to share some unusual portraiture that I always do.
This portraiture theme was the Kaamatan - Harvest Festival attire. Kaamatan is a local event that being held every year on the 30th and 31st of May. This event is about us the local ethnic here in Sabah celebrating the Harvest Festival for paddy.
The lore of this festival was originally from an old story where a human sacrifice called Huminodun, a girl, being offered to the God as a sacrifice for the prosperity of the paddy field growth.
Then to remember this old tradition, they celebrate it every year but without sacrifice. They added the beauty pageant which is called Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan. They will then promote all the ethnic's traditional attire, the local foods and drinks and the traditional sports from various ethnic here in Sabah during the festival period.
Below are some of the traditional attire that I took in our studio for our models to help promoting themselves including promoting the month of Kaamatan.
Before I share some of the photos of them, I believe that most of you have already saw the meme of a male pose for photo right.
"The default thumbs up pose" xD
I am having so much fun during the photo session and made them confuse after I said pose with thumbs up.
Traditional male attire from Kadazan Penampang. One of the variation with some accessories.
Traditional female attire from Kadazan Penampang. Variation on the accessories. The main pattern is the button and the gold line from the shirt. But for the last photo, the crown was not a traditional accessories. It was the crown for her latest title from a beauty pageant.
Traditional female attire from Dusun Tindal Kota Belud. Colorful design with a silver accessories on the chest called "kuapu".
Traditional female attire from Dusun Lotud Tuaran.
There are so many traditional wear that will be presented during the Kaamatan festival. I hope that I can get to cover as much of the traditional attire so that I can share to you guys here.
And that is all from me today. I hope that you guys enjoyed reading my post. Until we meet again have a great day and stay safe always. Cheers!
