In my post yesterday, an attentive reader might have noticed that the purpose of my trip was not to chase the feathered predators of the tundra, but the seashore. Indeed, after catching my breath a little, I continued on a way to find myself in one of favorite corners on native peninsula.
Looking around, on the way to the sea, you perfectly understand that one of the truths fits perfectly here, that a journey can be more exciting and richer than the ultimate goal itself.
For dozens of trips along these roads, it is still difficult for me to decide for myself which of the landscapes is my favorite - the summer tundra on the way to the sea, the coastal rocks between the tundra and the shore, and the North Sea coast itself. Maybe you can choose what you like more.
The closer to the water, the more the plains change their appearance. It's still tundra, but it's not so gentle and smooth anymore, with huge rolling hills that look like waves. The landscape looks more aggressive here.
More and more sharp rocks begin to cut through the earth's surface. It was as if a huge animal had raised its fur, preparing for battle. And sometimes it seems to me that if I climb to the outpost, achievable only by strong northern birds, and having the sharp eyesight of a falcon, I can see in all these jagged boulders the silhouette of a huge defeated giant, and the rocks are only bones left from his huge body.
The primeval earth as it was at the dawn of time, when the elements fought with each other. And I drive as slowly as possible, not because the road in front of me is bad and dangerous, but because of an inner desire to stay here forever, I struggle with the desire to completely take foot off the gas pedal and freeze.
Everything is moving forward, just like me. And nothing is infinite, like this amazing landscape. It ends completely unexpectedly, but the end is the beginning of a new one. And now I'm already one step away from the sea, in the possession of coastal rocks.
A surprisingly smooth transition from sharp edges to beautiful soft slopes, from which gaily bubbling waterfalls run to the shore. And now you have almost left the domain of the earth elementals and are entering the realm of water. Looking back curiously at the barrier that has grown up separating the two elements.
But the apparent submission of the rocks at first is only a deception. Moving along the coastline, I clearly see that they have not given up. This is the front of an eternal battle lasting millions of years. Sea waves and gusts of wind have been pouncing on the coast for centuries, it is because of them that it has become so fierce and exposes peaks towards its enemies.
Amazing landscapes created by a unique climate. It has long been a well-known truth that water sharpens a stone, it is in such places that you understand how it works. That even these monoliths are literally being sawn apart by sea spray. And most of the rocky coastline is literally cut off by the knife of the sea god.
It seems that no one except birds, capable of being beyond the reach of the conflict of the two elements, dare to dwell here. Although even for them it can be dangerous here, and insidious gusts of wind can throw gawking flyers on the rocks.
People have also left their mark here, as well as everywhere else on the planet. But in this case it is rather a reminder, a monument to both the power of the human spirit and the helplessness of human creations before nature.
Gradually the rudeness comes to naught. The coast is leveled, calms down a little. Conquered and surrendered, fallen into the gentle embrace of the waves, which seem to lull the land.
Enough about the battles, today I came here for peace. And having overcome all the defensive lines, I stopped in a small bay, free of rocks and waves. Only smooth sand and water to the horizon.
There is peace and harmony, the earth flows into the sea, and the sea covers the earth. One is the continuation of the other and they are the beginning of each other.
It's hard to believe that these calm waters can cause such enormous damage. But the evidence of the fury of the water is behind me. However, maybe sooner or later everything reaches harmony, even through chaos.
