My last post was from the beginning of the big snow dump, so here's a couple shots from later on!
I often avoid photographing my local forests in the snow because the high contrast and weird mix of browns, greens and blues make things very difficult. But I gave it a shot this time around and the results are better than I expected! The colors were a bit of a pain to get right in Photoshop, but some targeted adjustments to hue and saturation really helped. In particular, emphasizing the blues in the water was key to creating a nice color separation.
Going in the water without waders or neoprene socks when it was -10c outside was quite painful, but definitely worth it. That being said I think I've finally decided it's time to buy some waders 😂 There is a point where waving to focus so much on maintaining a safe body temperature really distracts from enjoying the views and figuring out compositions.
