Fun with collisions 😀: High speed Macro photography - See the world in a water drop!

in #hive-194913last year

They say lovers can see the world in each others eyes !

Well - I don't know about eyes but we can certainly see the world refracted in a water drop splash ...

Don't believe me? Read on to see art that we can create with our cameras...

I have been down with Shingles for past couple of weeks and was in too much pain to focus on anything. Boredom finally got to me and I decided to challenge it with something creative.

Since I was restricted to shooting at home, I decided to explore further with my water DIY drop test rig (which I had shared in my post here) and see if I could create some nice water drop splash images with some messages/ interesting background refracted in the water drops...

I had a very thrilling time nd managed to get a variety of things refracted in the water drops

Seeing the world in water drop splashes

Here are the images I captured. I tried out everything from superheroes, my favourite , to some save the Earth and Save water messages and got them refracted in splashing water drops..

Timing of the camera shutter, timing of firing the flash and of course, timing of releasing water drops in my DIY solenoid valve rig are all very important to get these images. It was also difficult to get just the right depth of field to get a clear refracted background image and water drop both in focus.

THESE ARE ALL ORIGINAL PHOTOS AND NOT PHOTOSHOPPED IMAGES!

Enough pre-amble now. Here we go..

SPIDERMAN in Waterverse....

This image shows what will happen if Spiderman was caught in a water world... 😀

It was thrilling to get this image with the dark colors and a perfect refraction of spidey in the water drop with a splash crown in the water below ...

Spiderman in Water multiverse...

I got multiple droplets released and created a multiverse of spiderman 😀

Timing of drops is important for such kind of image and I had hours of trial and error to get this shot...

Superman ....

With Spiderman coming to water verse, can Superman be far behind ...

For me personally, just seeing the Superman logo gives me goose-bumps. So - seeing it like this in a water verse was definitely out of this world..

I think that the images like above, can be used with a creative 'Save Water' or 'Save environment message' to educate the kids in an interesting way..

Since I was talking of 'worlds in water drops' the next one shows the earth in water drops...

Earth in a water drop...

Who could imagine we could see the earth like this? Perhaps if we went very high up and chased a water drop as it fell towards earth, we may see something like this. 😀

I also created a couple of images with direct 'Save earth' 'Save water' messages refracted in water drops as they splashed in the water...

Save the earth message..

I loved the green hues and the message in this image. Hope you do too.

Save water message...

The blue and white of the image actually created a bokeh background of blue and white like clouds in the sky. It gives a totally awesome look to the image I think...

As you can see, with the right technique, sky is the limit for such refracted images and messages. Not only worlds but we can even see galaxies in water drops!

I could have continued for hours more but I think I have made my point.

Spreading the message about saving water
I hope these beautiful images can be used by everyone to emphasize the importance of even a drop of water and spread the message to save water!

Do you think geeky things like high speed photography and arduino based water drop control can produce art? I think so and spent some time on it - Was all the effort worth it? Have you tried something like this? I look forward to suggestions and shared experiences from our expert community members.
