On March 22, 2024, I was having a photo walk in a cozy neighborhood in Bangkok when I witnessed a scene of a cat falling into a canal; into that one, in the middle:
And that's the victim, a few minutes before the drama:
He still didn't know... 😿
I quickly took the image of the cat staring at me from below the bicycle and turned my attention to other felines in the neighborhood thanks to the fact there were a lot of them around me.
The White Chin, the victim's fren, was sitting on a shed pretending to be relaxed although she was disturbed by an intrusion of a human with a large black object in his hands.
"Who is this human, and what he wants? I don't know but it would be wise to make him believe I am fully relaxed as if nothing was happening..."
Alexander (let me call this unknown cat Alexander) was resting near White Chin without worrying about anything when someone shouted: "cat fell into the canal!". That shout was in Thai, I can't say what exactly was said but I heard "maoo" (cat in Thai) and saw a cat floundering in the water.
There was no way to escape the canal for the creature. But he didn't know it and it looked like he was enjoying bathing after the hot day. At least, he didn't meow and was just calmly swimming.
Then, a lady came with a rope...
This woman probably drags cats from this canal regularly - she was acting skillfully, quickly lassoed the cat and started pulling.
That's when the victim began to panic... He escaped the loose and wanted to crawl into a sewage tube (which would mean he could stick there unable to crawl backwards).
Happily, the lady quickly returned control of the cat (another well-aimed lasso throw) and started pulling the whiskered "tuna".
There were already half a dozen people gathered near the canal, watching the drama.
The victim had no idea that he was being saved. He was trying to escape the loose again but the lady with her lasso magic was too powerful... However, there was still a battle ahead on land, where the cat was no longer as helpless as in the water... Look at that:
The cat was fighting as a lion and monkey, combined in one creature, but then another hooman joined that unfair battle...
As soon as the victim was freed of the rope, he was gone in a flash.
